Brentford director claims that Bryan Mbeumo could stay with bees despite the interest of Manchester United

Brentford’s director of Football, Phil Giles, has confirmed that the club is in “constant dialogue” with Bryan Mbeumo, in the midst of a strong interest in Manchester United, who has seen two offers rejected for the striker.

Although the 25-year-old Cameroon, who expresses his desire to move to Old Trafford, Brentford maintains an agreement until the red devils fulfill his assessment.

Giles spoke to BBC Sport on Monday, explaining that there has been “not so” progress in a potential transfer.

“It had a great season,” Giles said. “We were expecting great interest in him, we had a great interest in him.

“He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career. He is fine within his rights to do it.

“It is not impossible to remain a Brentford player next season if we agree that he will stay.”

Giles was clear that the club would only sanction a sale if the terms were suitable for them.

“Any club will tell you,” he added. “If it’s not right, why would we do it?

“It’s definitely one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There is no harm to keeping the best players.”

Giles also provided an update on Christian Norgaard, confirming that Brentford’s captain is near a transfer to Arsenal.

“We have been conversations with Arsenal during the last week to 10 days,” Giles said. “As it is, it has not yet been completed, but it goes towards this direction.

“If this happens to him, he is fantastic, he has won it. He has been a brilliant captain for us.

“Let’s see how this story ends, but we are quite open about this interest.”
