BBC Check
A month after the controversial distribution system for assistance in the US and Israel in Gaza, the BBC checks the analysis of dozens of videos, shows repeated cases of rifles near people traveling to collect assistance, as well as other moments of chaos and panic.
Several analyzed videos can be heard shots, and there is a number that shows the dead or wounded Palestinians.
According to the Ministry of Health Gaza, over the past months, more than 500 people were assisted last month, and 4,000 were injured – the vast majority accused the Israeli fire officials of Gazana and physicians, as well as eyewitnesses.
BBC Verify did not find videos that allow the final assessment of the one responsible for the wave of killings, but the overall picture is a confusion and constant danger.
In the last month, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have repeatedly stated that they fired “warnings” from persons they called “suspects” or stated that they had threatened.
IDF told the BBC to make sure that Hamas is doing “everything depends on it to prevent the success of food distribution in gas, trying to disrupt help and directly harm the gas strips.”
On May 18, Israel announced that he had partially mitigated his 11-week gas aid, which she said, was aimed at exerting a pressure on Hamas to release the hostages.
IDF built four aid distribution places – three in the southwest of Gaza and one in the central gas in the Israeli security zone, known as the Netzarim Corridor – which began on May 26.
These sites in areas controlled by IDF known as SDS 1, 2, 3 and 4 are guided by security contractors operating in the Gas Humanitarian Fund (GHF), and the Israeli troops provide them with routes and perimeters. On Thursday, the US State Department announced 30 million dollars (22 million pounds; 26 million euros) in GHF financing, the first known contribution to the group.
From the very beginning, the UN has condemned the plan, stating that it was “militarization” of assistance, bypassing the existing distribution network and forcing gas to make long journeys through a dangerous area to get food.
Within a few days, starting with the plan, dozens of Palestinians died in individual incidents on June 1 and 3, causing international condemnation. Since then, it has appeared almost in the field of reports of the murder of people who are going to gather help.
IDF notes that “forces carry out systematic learning processes aimed at improving the operative reaction in the field and minimizing possible friction between the population and IDF forces.”
Israeli government’s press -secretary David Meniser called reports of people who died when receiving “another unrighteous”. “There were no hundreds of people who were dying.”
GHF denied that there was a “incident or death on any of its distributions.
On Tuesday, the Red Cross stated that its field hospital in Rapha had to activate its mass loss procedures 20 times since May 27, and the vast majority of patients suffering from firearms and stated that they were on the way to the assistance site.
The UN and its World Food Program, as well as other assistance providers, continue to try to distribute gas help, but say they depend on the Israeli authorities to facilitate their missions.
The UN Human Rights Commissioner’s Office said the murder of Palestinians trying to access help was a “likely war crime”. International Human Rights Lawyer Sarah Elizabeth Dil told the BBC to make sure that if there was no intentional targeting for civilians, it could be a serious violation of international law.
“Mass shootings during civilian assistance violate the basic rules against civilians’ orientation and use fasting against them, potentially increasing war crimes,” she said.
Three videos, the first of which was posted on June 9, showed hundreds of people, some keep that it seems empty flour that moves along the cliffs and hide in roar. You can hear several automatic shot blasts.
On that day, the Ministry of Health Hamas said that six people were killed that morning, seeking help and more than 99 were injured. The next day, he reported on 36 deaths related to the help and more than 208 injuries.
It is impossible to make sure that any of these victims were the result of the shooting that could be heard on the shots.
We were able to confirm that the video was shot from approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) northwest of the SDS4, on the way to the site in Central Gaza.
Audoanalysis Roteling from Steve Beck, a former FBI consultant, who now manages BEK Audio’s forensics, said one of the weapons sounded as fired at the tariffs corresponding to the FN Minimi and M4 Assault Rifle machine guns. The second pistol, said Mr. Beck, released the speed that was “compatible” with the AK-47 sound. We can’t set whose weapons shoots, but FN Minimis and M4S are commonly used IDF, while AK-47 commonly used Hamas and other gas groups.
In the frames published the next day, on June 10, and filmed nearby, more crowds were noticed in the panic as the sound of shooting, followed by what sounds like an explosion. Bloody people, including children, were also injured at the time.
GHF has cards showing “safe excerpts” on their sites and reports opening the WhatsApp and social media time.
Each passage has a “start point” and the “stop” with the Palestinians warned that they should not cross the latter until it turns out.
But the SDS4 did not plan a safe passage for people who come from the north.
There were also murders close to GFF assistance sites.
The proven footage since June 17 showed at least 21 bodies and several victims on the road, which parked several vehicles, including a badly damaged truck.
Witnesses said the BBC that IDF Drones and the tank fired in the crowd when they were waiting for help collection.
The IDF statement confessed that it determined the “gathering” of the people adjacent to the assistance of the assistance, which was stuck in the Khan Unis, and in the immediate vicinity of the IDF troops operating in the area. “
It states: “IDF knows about messages about a number of affected people from IDF after the crowd approach.” This was regretted for “any harm to uninstalled people” and stated that the details of the incident had been considered.
A spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense Agency said at least 50 people were killed at the scene.
The video shows a number of dead around the traces of Scurch on the ground, including one person who blowing his legs.
Mark Consians from the Center for Strategic and International Studies noted the lack of obvious effects of the crater, but told us that the degree of damage was probably the result of “a lot of direct fire”.
Another video posted on June 16, which we checked, shows that the bodies that stretched on the basket near the horse along the Al-Roshid Street in the north of Gaza, the main coastal road and often used by escort help.
The signature together with the video claims that these Palestinians were killed while waiting for help.
The next day, a few photos and videos we checked were posted on social media located nearby, showing a body that is carried by several men on a wooden pallet along the same road.
GHF claimed that many of the estimated incidents were linked to escort and distribution places for other groups, including the UN. It states that these assistance supplies “were looted by criminals and bad actors.”
The GHF press -secretary said he was generally “satisfied” by the first month of operations, 46 million meals were distributed by two million gas, but sought to increase their capabilities.
IDF said, among other changes, it sets fences and signs and opening additional routes.
“We have caused concern (with IDF) about maintaining a safe passage for those seeking help, but unfortunately some tried to make dangerous short cuts or travel in limited times,” GHF press.
“Ultimately, the decision is a greater help that will create more certainty and less relevance among the population.”
