Shiraishi later confessed to the murder of nine victims of suicides and showed that he met them on Twitter, a social media platform, which is now known as X.
He then told them could help them die, and in some cases claimed he would kill himself.
His profile on Twitter contained the words: “I want to help people who really hurt. Please DM (direct message) at any time.”
Nine dismembered bodies were found in colects and boxes with instruments when officers visited his apartment, which was named in the media as a “horror house”.
While the prosecutor’s office sought the death penalty for Shirajishi, his lawyers argued for less charges of “murder with consent”, saying that his victims had given permission to murder.
They also called for an assessment of his mental state.
Later, Shiraiya disputed the version of the events of his defense team and said he killed without the victim’s consent.
Hundreds of people appeared at a hearing in December 2020 when he was sentenced to death.
The killings also pushed the changes to Twitter, which have made changes to their rules for state users, should not “promote or encourage suicide and self -harm.”
