“Two weeks” was two days.
On Thursday, Donald Trump gave the Iranians a term when they wanted to avoid strike in the US at their nuclear facilities, but the term was much shorter than expected.
Two days later, the US president announced on Saturday night that US combat aircraft bombed three nuclear places, as a result of the attack he said “very successfully”.
Was there a “two -week term” for negotiations? Copes to lure the Iranians into a false sense of security this weekend? Or behind -the -scenes talks led by Trump’s appointed Trump Steve Witco?
In the near future, the strokes are little known. But in his message in the social media, announcing the attacks, Trump added that “now time for peace”.
However, this can be an optimistic outlook.
Iran warned of repression when the US joined Israel when attacking its sovereign territory. And although the Israelis made considerable efforts to destroy Iran’s military capabilities, Ayatollah still has weapons.
Things can quickly become dirty.
Now the expectation game begins. How will Iran respond to attacks on three of its sites, including Fordo, is regarded as the value of its nuclear program?
It seems Trump hopes that the US strikes will make Iran make big concessions at the negotiating table, but it seems unlikely that a nation that does not want to talk under Israeli attacks will be more prone if American bombs are also falling.
And although Trump seemed to imply that the attack in the US was the only successful event, it would take time to determine whether Americans have reached their goal to destroy strongly fortified Iranian nuclear studies.
If not, the pressure on the strike again – either the president will raise a serious political risk for minimal military benefits.
This risk includes internal political problems as well as international security issues. The prospect of the US attack on Iran has already provoked sharp criticism not only by Democrats, but also by its own “America” in “America’s first”.
If this attack is a one -time event, Trump can smooth the division in his database. But if it draws the United States into a greater conflict, the president, who styl as a “peacemaker”, may arise with his rows.
The attack on Saturday became an aggressive step for the president, who boasted did not start new wars during his first presidential term, and which was regularly conducted against his predecessors who drove the country to foreign conflicts last year.
Trump has taken his step. Where it goes from here, it is not completely within its control.
