Panama has announced an emergency in its main region, which produces a banana after the shops were plundered and the buildings were scandalized in permanent protests over the pension reform.
The government says constitutional rights will be suspended for the next five days in the province of Northwestern Bokas del Toro.
The measure limits the freedom of movement and allows the police to do arrests without a warrant.
Problems in the region began a month ago, when the local union of the banana joined the nationwide protest against the proposed pension cuts and announced a strike.
“In the face of violation of order and active violence, the state will fulfill its constitutional mandate to guarantee peace,” said Juan Carlos Oryalak, the Presidential Minister.
The measure, he added, would allow you to “save the province” from radicals.
Protests across the Latin American nation broke out in March over the pension reform.
In Bokas -Del -To, the excitement was largely headed by the workers on the banana Chiquita Brands plantation.
The confrontation increased last month after the company fired thousands of bright employees.
Participants of the promotion install blotches in the province, often colliding with the police.
Earlier this week, the crowds damaged one of the Chiquita brand facilities as well as a local airport.
