Manchester City began its commitment to retaining the Club World Cup with a 2-0 routine victory over Wydad Casablanca in Philadelphia.
The new signings that Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki received their city debuts from Pep Guardiola from Lincoln Financial Field.
But it was Phil Foden who had the greatest impact on a unilateral contest, opening the score after a minute and 51 seconds for his first goal since January.
Foden then set up the second of Jeremy Doku shortly before half the time with excellent delivery from a corner, and although City did not add to his leadership, Wydad never threatened any comeback even after a late red card for Rico Lewis.
City will now direct attention to his next task to Group G, who see them in Ain on Sunday, when Wydad will face Juventus.

The city needed only two minutes to break the deadline, the direction of Foden after the cross near Savinho was on his way to Mehdi Benabid. He scored his first goal since he found the network in the Premier League against Chelsea almost five months.
They did not waste time to push a second, Omar Marmoush and Nathan Ake each approached, but Thebinkosi Lorch was a constant irritating at the other end, with the center of the city Vitor Reis, who lasted a hard half.
However, Foden would have dubbed his account if it were not for a good reflection of Benabid after a Cherki cut.
City made his command in the 42nd minute, Foden again involved when his corner towards the post was turned home for Doku with an unorthodox volley.
The second half was, for the most part, largely low -key, with the best opportunity that fell to Erling Haaland.
Haaland, after leaving the bench, shot at the bar in the good work of Lewis.
But Lewis will now be suspended after it is shown a straight red with two remaining two minutes in the normal time.
Lewis won the ball in a sliding challenge with Samuel Obeng from Wydad, but his follow -up saw that he saw him grabbing Obeng on his face with his shoulders.
Referee Ramon Abatti considered this reason enough to send Lewis, much to the abandonment of his back.
However, Wydad never seemed to take advantage of the additional man, and it was City who approached the third part of the game when Haaland played in a stop time, just to see that Benabid denied Guardiola’s men a final flourite.
