Kelsey Grammer on rearing 7 children, welcome baby 8 with his wife Kayte

Before the exposure of Walsh’s pregnancy, the six-time Emmy winner looked back at how to become a father to seven-soon-to-be-eight-day as a definitive attitude of his life.

At the time, Grammer spoke about his traumatic experience he and his wife of losing a child when Walsh was expecting twins in 2012. The actor wrote in his 2025 biography, Karen: A brother remembersthat “the biggest pain” he had ever known was when he and Walsh made the decision to abort one of the twins because of serious complications.

Doctors told the couple in 13 weeks that the amniotic sack of the male twin twin was broken and irreversible. In view of the risk of losing the two twins, the pregnant parents made the encouraging decision to abort their male twin to save their daughter’s life. Talking to Us In May, Grammer reflected on how birth their son Gabriel Two years later the couple eventually helped to overcome their grief.

Grammer wrote in Karen: A brother remembers he was “deserted” and “drowned in grief” following the murder of his sister. He explained tearfully to Us That he was finally able to improve one of the most traumatic events in his life by sharing Karen’s story.

“It’s been amazing,” he said. “I don’t carry the self-hatred part anymore. I don’t blame myself anymore. I miss it.”

Tackling the lasting impact of Karen’s death, Grammer said, “I hope I (my children) do not have to experience what I have experienced. I want my children to live fully and venture and be bold and adventurous.”
