Rain also wished him happiness and success on his journey after his retirement, appreciating the impact Mathews had achieved on the game and the respect he gained throughout his career.
“Hello Angelo, how are you brother? Much love and happiness. You have been a great ambassador of Sri Lanka team and it was a pleasure to play with you. You have been a great player and a great captain for the Sri Lanka team and I enjoyed playing with you and having a wonderful career afterwards.” Raina said.

Mathews has been a spine of Sri Lanka’s cricket for more than a decade. Known for his technical and powerful strokeplay shake, he has represented Sri Lanka in more than 430 games in all formats. The right side has accumulated 16,477 international runs, including 19 centuries.
