Why does James Gunn think a new Wonder Woman movie will be easier than Fflic Batman

Batman’s future on the big screen is currently uncertain. “Wonder Woman I think is really easier for me, because there have not been so many infinite portraits of Wonder Woman – definitely not in movies, but really anywhere – that Batman was.”

The challenge that Batman’s films have been reached at the moment is not to give people so much good thing to be sour. Wonder Woman, as Gunn argues, does not face that.

Wonder Woman stands neck and neck with Superman and Batman as members of “Trinity” DC Comics, ie the publisher’s three characters all know and acknowledge. But historically Wonder Woman has not had the level of exposure to the media as its fellows. (And yes, many are down to pure sexism alone.)

To this day, Wonder Woman has not led a single cartoon series for its adventures, but Batman and Superman have had several each. (The last TV show “Wonder Woman” was the 1970s starring Lynda Carter.) The same is true of the movies. Compared to dozens of Superman and Batman photos, Wonder Woman has led two live-active theatrical films (“Wonder Woman” 2017 and “Wonder Woman 1984”) and two direct animated features to the home-media (“Wonder Woman” 2009 and “Wonder Woman: Bloodlines”).

Similarly, Gadot Gadot is the only actor to have played Wonder Woman on the silver screen. He also quite say that his first appearance is “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Year before “Wonder Woman” himself came out in 2017, as if WB had no confidence that Wonder Woman’s film could be a success standing alone.

But for Gunn, Wonder Woman’s historic underexposure is a blessing in disguise. There have been so many different Batman actors that most people have their own individual favorites; Some Michael Keaton prefers, others firmly in bales in favor of Christian, others still favor Ben Affleck, And some even argue that Val Kilmer was actually the best batman. On the contrary, whoever plays Wonder Woman will be compared only To Gadot (and it is probably winding up looking even better because of that comparison).

This also makes it easier on the writing process, as Wonder Woman has so much less and the history of Wonder Woman has been explored on film compared to Batman. As Gunn explained to Rolling Stone:

“Every Batman story has been told. Half of the comics that have come out of DC over the last 30 years seems to have Batman in them … people love it because it’s interesting, but also having so much out of it can make it boring. So how do you create that property that is fun to watch?”

But if Adam West is your favorite Batman, Gunn may have some bad news for you:

“You need (Batman) in the DCU and a need is not exactly the same as Batman Matt. Yet Batman Campy is not. I’m not interested in that. I’m not interested in a funny Batman, Campy, really.”

Before this, I had been thinking that the obvious way to place the two batsmen on the separate screen would be to make them completely different. Batman Reeves and Pattinson are dark, based, and green, so give the DCU Batman a lighter touch. If the Batman DCU is going to be darker already, then why not bend “the Batman” to the location? Robert Pattinson definitely has enough range as an actor to play whatever kind of Batman Gunn offers. Gunn was asked if this is a possibility during his Rolling Stone interview. After “a long pause,” he replied:

“I would never say zero, because you never know. But it’s not likely. It’s not likely at all.”
