Erin Moriarty Boys star shares the diagnosis of Graves’ disease

The boys star Erin Moriarty Announcing that she has been diagnosed with grave disease.

“A autoimmune disease manifests differently in all/all bodies. Your experience will be different from mine,” wrote Moriarty, 30, through Instagram On Saturday, June 14.

According to the Mayo clinicGraves disease affects the thyroid by causing the body to “do too much thyroid hormone.” Symptoms can include irritability, mood swings, fast weight loss, fatigue, sleep difficulty and lower sex drive, among others. The autoimmune condition is more common in women and tends to affect older than 30 years old, the Mayo Clinic states.

Moriarty explained to her Instagram followers that she had already seen an improvement after starting treatment “a month ago.”

“Within 24 hours of starting treatment, I felt the light was coming back. It has been increasing in strength ever since,” he noted. “If yours fades, even a little, go checked out. Don’t ‘suck up’ and go beyond suffering; you deserve to be comfortable. S *** ‘hard enough as it is.”

The Sag Award nominee shared photos and text messages from the disease tour of her graves, including a harrowing text that her mother sent at the height of her suffering.

“I’m serious; I really need relief,” he wrote. “I feel nausea tonight. I feel so s *** and moved from who I am, I can’t live like this forever. Or that long. There are no seconds anymore, not even passing 5 seconds, when I feel normal. I have never had it. Not just one. Not just fatigue-it’s an inefficient cry, across the system for help and I don’t know how long I can stay in this state.

In contrast to that scary message, Moriarty contained another text message to her father for how much better she felt after starting treatment.

“I’m already feeling the difference, a basic thinking (right now): ‘Damn, here’s how I’m supposed to feel? I’ve been missing out,’” he declared.

Moriarty received huge support to go public with her diagnosis, with The boys costume Susan Heyward and See actor Nesta Cooper Both send her heart emojis.

The boys director Shana stein Also wished Moriarty well by answering, “So happy you are on the way to recovery.”

Moriarty rose to fame – and won the Urdd Screen Actors Prize nomination – for her supporting performance in the 2016 play A fantastic captain. She followed with an acceptable role as Hope Shlottman’s Jessica Jones and starred in the 2018 true crime comedy Drive contrasting Ted lasso actor Jason Sudikis and Bodies bodies bodiesLee Pace.

For the past four seasons, Moriarty has portrayed the dissatisfied Serenter Annie January (Aka Starlight) at Prime Video’s The boys. The Streamer confirmed that Moriarty will return for the fifth and final season of The boysis expected to show for the first time in 2026.
