WATCH: Kane Richardson clears Ashton Turner with a jaffa in the 2024-25 Big Bash League



In a meeting between the Perth Scorchers and the Melbourne Renegades at Perth Stadium during the 26th match of the Big Bash League 2024-25, Kane Richardson‘s excellent delivery was one of the highlights of the first innings. The Renegades medium-fast bowler produced a moment of brilliance to dismiss the Perth Scorchers captain Ashton Turner.

It was the seventh over of the Perth Scorchers’ innings when Richardson walked in to bowl Turner. At a good length, the ball again hit the right-handed Turner, who had no choice but to make an ambitious ball. However, with his feet barely moving, Turner left a significant gap between bat and pad, and the ball crashed into the stumps, leaving Turner dazed. The Scorchers skipper was out for just 8 runs off 13 balls, and the Renegades got their fourth wicket of the match.

Adam Zampa shines on the ball for the Melbourne Renegades

Perth Scorchers were asked to bat first and managed to post a total of 147 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. The team struggled with the bat, with only a few notable contributions. Ashton Agar was the standout specimen, scoring a brave 51 off 30 balls, helping his team to a competitive total in the first innings. Melbourne Renegades bowling attack was led by Adam Zampawho gave an impressive performance. Zampa was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets and providing the much-needed breakthroughs to keep the Scorchers in check.

Teams at opposite ends of the classification

Both teams entered the match in different forms. The Perth Scorchers, sitting fifth in the points table with 6 points, have struggled consistently, suffering a 4 point loss to the Sydney Thunderstorm in their previous match. On the other hand, the Melbourne Renegades were just below them in sixth place, with 4 points, and suffered three consecutive defeats, including a 5-0 defeat Melbourne Stars in his last outing. This game was crucial for both teams to bounce back and gain some momentum in the competition.
