Kyra sedgwick knows some or two about working with the family – something that brought her to film her new comedy Bad shabbos.
“I think we all really respect each other’s art,” said Sedgwick, 59, Weekly US of working with a husband Kevin Bacon and their children. “We all have a similar sense of humor and a sense of drama.”

Most recently Sedgwick shared the big screen with the Sosie girl in last year What did we get wrongwho also directed the latter. A musician at his craft, Travis has contributed scores to some of Sedgwick’s projects, including 2022’s The odds of space.
In terms of looking ahead, Sedgwick was teasing that fans can expect to see more from his nest: “We’re doing something right now together and it’s really fun!” She said Us.
Sedgwick’s secret is not to cherish off -screen maternity, making his role in Bad shabbos a particularly special one. Sedgwick plays a Jewish matriarch in the Daniel Robbins-Firected project, which hosts Shabbos lunch that takes a dark turn quickly after accidental death.

Sedgwick, who is Jewish himself, felt a special connection with his role in this film. “She feels very familiar to me,” shared for her character Ellen, that some would describe him as an unapproved mother-in-law. “I’m sure I’ve met people like that.” The actress said that the nature of Ellen, and sometimes controls, is unique to his character only. “I’m sure my mother was like that to a certain extent, as well as myself,” he admitted with laughter.
While Ellen is difficult to like at first, Sedgwick highlights that the character will eventually grow on viewers. “I think she’s one of those mothers who is like, ‘Nothing is good enough for my child,” said Sedgwick. “But I think the fun of it is that it comes around in such an intense way.”
The actress shared her with extra attention to Ellen’s relationship with her daughter-in-law, Meg (Meghan leather).
“I think you want to feel about her condition, or conflict it with Meg, and why it’s so difficult for her,” he said Usexplaining that her focus on their dynamic, and her background in theater, led her attitude to the character. “Coming from a theater, I think I have a very specific idea of how it would be, a musical how it would sound. I was excited about sharing that idea, and open arms were achieved from the cast and from the director.”
