Through the Lens of the Treasure Hunter Brock Lovett’s (Bill Paxton) Investigate finding valuable jewels in the wreck, the film forces viewers to face the reality of the famous tragedy – not only as a historical fact, but as an event where hundreds of real people lost their lives. (There is a specific scene involving an Irish woman throwing her children to bed that never fails to shake us into the core.) The raw, heartbreaking reality of the sinking, along with the selfless acts of courage and sacrifice shown by many characters, often leaves viewers tearful.
