Simon Katich sees a comic in Rohit Sharma after his poor performance in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Rohit Sharma has been widely maligned by Indian fans and analysts following his failure as a batsman and captain of the team that lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia for the first time in 10 years. The latest to comment on the Indian skipper’s current form woes is from the former Australian batsman Simon Katich who shared his unique perspective on what Rohit should do in the future.

Without giving Rohit any chance of a comeback, Katich emphasized that according to him, red-ball cricket has reached a dead end for Rohit. In a discussion with Star SportsKatich took criticism of the Indian skipper to a whole new level and felt that Rohit has a future in comedy.

“Well, if you look at the numbers, they’re doomed. We saw that in this test. It was very selfless of him to opt for the test, I saw in that interview, very well spoken. There’s no doubt that he has a future after to have finished playing cricket in the comedy, because his humor was so good.” Katich commented mockingly.

Katich also highlighted the kind of physical toll Test cricket can take on a 37-year-old. He said: “Those numbers don’t make for good reading. Test cricket is no place for 37-year-olds at the top of the order.”

India they are ready to play England in a 5-match Test series in June this year. This will be an important bilateral Test series that the Indian team will play after their defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. According to Katich, the England tour will not be easy for Rohit.
