Matchroom reports that Ernesto Mercado has suffered an injury and will not go through his fight against Jonathan Montrel on Saturday, June 14 at the Madison Square Garden Theater.
The heavyweight perspective of the light light (17-0, 16 ko) had been scheduled to fight Montrel in a ten-round fight on the Richardson Hitchins vs. George Kamboses Jr. in Dazn. Matchroom did not reveal what kind of injury had suffered Mercado, 23. Mercado-Montrella was going to fight in the preliminary part of the card.
Losing the card of the card is a disappointment because it would have been interesting to see it. He has moved against an increasingly better opposition and will not happen much before he fights against the best contestants at 140.
Mercado is interested in fighting Keyshawn Davis, now that he has decided to be heavy after being stripped of his light title Wbo last Friday after not having gained weight. Keyshawn is likely to have no merd in his offer to fight him.
The following boxer steps have been avoided
Ernesto is in a position to be avoided until he captures a world title at 140. None of the best fighters will not willingly fight on Mercado without the belt or becoming obligatory for one of the titles. Mercado recently called Shakur Stevenson, but pretended to know who he was and ignored his call.
This news of Matchroom comes one day after Mercado called Nahir Albright, saying that he wanted to relieve him of his title.
The underground still has many notable fighters, such as Andy Cruz, Teremoana Jr., Zaquin Moses and Pablo Valdez. Promoter Eddie Hearn has gathered an excellent outsourcing to go along with the main event between Hitchins and Kamboses.
