Prince William encourages the protection of an ocean during Monaco’s solo journey

Prince William World Central Day marked with a single appearance in the Blue Economy and Finance Forum.

“We are coming together today united by our deep connection to the ocean and concern for its safety,” said William, 42, in Sunday, June 8, speech At the event held in Monaco. “For many of us, it is a place where some of our happiest memories are made, where we have explored the wonders of the natural world, and we have all relied on its great abundance for our food and livelihood.”

The Prince of Wales further noted that “sea temperatures are rising, plastic pollution and overfishing” have put pressure on the “fragile ecosystems” and the people “most dependent on them.”

He continued, “This is our best chance to overturn the damage done to our planet and restore its well -being, but the clock is ticking (as) 2030 is fast approaching. Only 17 per cent of land and only three percent of the fully protected ocean. If we are to achieve our goal, we urgently need to take bold action to protect and restore our planet.” “

William highlighted the phrase, “Blue Economy,” which refers to the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, the improved livelihood and health of the ecosystem.

“With creativity, ingenuity, investment and support, we can unlock exciting innovations and solutions to protect our planet, create jobs, maintain a living and encourage prosperity,” stressed William. “This challenge is like nothing we have faced before. I remain an optimist. I think urgency and optimism have the power to secure the action needed to change the course of history.”

William further referred to the Earthshot Award, the Awarded Ceremony that registered to honor scientific achievements and innovation, which enlightened his mindset to the various possibilities.

“Individuals, organizations and businesses from every corner of the world are stepping up to play their part,” he added.
