Arsenal near the sign

Arsenal is closing an agreement to sign the Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to reports.

Kepa, who is still hired in Chelsea until next summer, despite not having a blues appearance since 2023, has been a loan during the season in Bournemouth, where the 30 -year -old has impressed on the side of Andoni Iraola.

Before that, he had been on loan to Real Madrid, but now it is believed that Mikel Arteta is interested in carrying his compatriot permanently, according to athletics.

Departure reports that the Gunners have triggered the launch clause of 5 million pounds, but if a movement materializes, it is likely that Kepa, reaching the Stamford bridge for £ 72 million by Athletic Bilbao in 2018, will play the second fiddle in David Raya of first choice.

Kepa made 35 appearances in all competitions for cherries last season, keeping nine clean sheets.

And Iraola has previously stated interest in keeping the player in the club, but said that a final decision had not yet been made.

“I think it’s about negotiating with Kepa and Chelsea,” said Iraola.

“I think both sides are very happy with their loan spell.

“I think he has performed very well, and his character and experience have been very valuable for us. In a really young team, that someone with his experience of regularly fighting for titles has been very beautiful.

“But we still have Neto, (Mark) Travers and (Alex) Paulsen, so we will see in the preseason what decisions we make. There will be no doubt changes in this position.”
