Tyson Fury: “Born A Winner”, imperfect due to the pressure of the rematch

Tyson Fury says he will not react with surprise if he wins against Oleksandr Usyk in Saturday night’s rematch.

He claims he was “born a winner” and a win over unified heavyweight champion Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) would be no different than the other 34 wins he has amassed over his 16-year career.

Hopefully, he’s serious because he partied and ate like crazy after his upset win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015. The Gypsy King nearly ballooned 400 pounds and stayed out of the ring for 2 1/2 years, celebrating.

For Fury to react this way, he didn’t think he would emerge victorious, and he may have doubts he’ll raise his hand against Usyk. In other words, when Fury talks, he’s not real with people.

Born a winner?

“This is what I do. i win I was born a winner, and I will die a winner. A few wins in between don’t mean a lot to me,” said Tyson Fury Queensberry Promotions when asked what he will do if he emerges victorious against Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.

A checkered past

That loss Fury suffered against Usyk should have been number 3 on his resume and not his first, as his first match with John McDermott on September 11, 2009 was clearly a gift decision, and the his first match against Deontay Wilder should have been a knockout loss. That was the one Fury went out cold in the 12th and was counted out by the referee. The fight should have stopped instantly.

“I think Fury has it in him. This is his biggest fight, his comeback. He will never have a bigger fight coming back from defeat,” said Gareth A. Davies talkSport boxing “Muhammad Ali came back from defeat to become a heavyweight champion. Tyson Fury can do it.

“Fury didn’t keep his long guard going long enough, and he can do that in this fight. He also hurt Usyk to the body with uppercuts, time and time again. He’s going to use all of that. What Usyk is going to do differently This time, who knows? Maybe it will be more moving and more elusive, but it will be a fascinating and fun chess match as they enter the 13th round.

“I understand he’s in better condition,” Gareth said of Fury. “He had that cut over his right eye to deal with on the last pitch, of course.”

Ali’s comparison to Gareth was a bit too much, even for him. If Fury was a talent like that, he’d have no problem against Usyk on Saturday.
