Colin Farrell’s Penguin performance leads a quiet Golden Globes for genre media

He may not be such a big fan of all the prosthetics, but Colin Farrell might need to get used to it. playing Oz Cobb for a while longer: between sweet confirmation of a second season for HBO Batman The crime series and his Golden Globe win for the role last night, there’s never been a better time for Gotham’s mobsters.

Farrell’s win in the acting categories for limited series, anthology and TV movie was just one of a handful of nods to genre media in the Golden Globes last nightin an evening dominated in the film categories by the likes of The Brutalist and Emilia Perezand on TV from FX’s excellent Japanese historical drama Shogun. Other notable genre nods include Demi Moore winning for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for The Substanceproving as always that no one has any idea where to place horror films in award categories, while Bad He took home the “congratulations you made a lot of money” blockbuster category, Best Box Office Achievement.

Otherwise, it was a miss night for the genre –Dune: Part Two lost both its nods for best picture and best score, while Kathryn Hahn’s turn as Agatha Harkness in Agatha All Long lost to Jean Smart for Hacks in Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical Series. Check out the full list of nominees below, along with the winners.
