Zach Gilford looks back on Midnight Mass And everything he went through – and failed – while filming.
The Netflix series was released in September 2021, but was filmed at the height of the pandemic. Gilford, 43, said he was “really proud” of the project, despite all the necessary sacrifices.
“There are many existential things happening in that regard,” he said on Tuesday, June 3, from Julia Cunningham Show. “During the pandemic we shot it. I had to miss my son’s birth to shoot him, so I was in head space, ‘I’m sucking. I don’t want to be here.’
“This is like, ‘I might meet my son one day,'” joking. “I did, spoiler.”
Though filming took him away from home, Gilford spoke brightly for his time shoot Midnight Mass In a 2023 story with Weekly US.
“I really learned something on that show that I went to other things because I had to do so much preparation to know so well,” he said Us at the time only. “Even on other things, I didn’t get back to LA’s best, but things that are much lighter and a little more fun. I was like, I’m going to know my things inside and outside so I can be in the scene completely and never think of the words that come out of my mouth, but just feel that they come out and respond to the person.”

Gilford filed for a divorce In April 2025 after 12 years of marriage, citing incomparable differences. It seeks the legal and physical custody of the two children jointly.
Before separation Gilford and Sanchez, 47, appeared together recently on screen, playing a couple on Criminal Thoughts: Evolution.
“It’s really harder,” said Gilford only Us In August 2024 from starred opposite his wife at the time. “It’s harder because I don’t want to hold a gun to the end of my wife.… It happened that the nature of these scenes was quite gross.”
He added, “Honestly, all those scenes are so f *** ed.
That’s not the first time they had shared the screen. Gilford and Sanchez met in 2010 on a TV pilot set called The matadors in 2010. They later appeared together Kingdoms and The Carth: Anarchy.
