Former three-divisions world champion, Vasily Lomachenko, retired after 12 years in the Professional Party. The Olympic Gold Medalist twice Lomachenko (18-3, 12 ko) has meant that he has burned in sports due to injury, lack of motivation and the desire to spend time with his family.
Vasily’s record as an amateur is 396-1. Many boxing fans would agree that if Ukrainian Lomachenko had become a professional before, he would have achieved much more because he spent some of his best years in the ranks of amateurs, capturing medals and dominant.
Burnout, injury, family: Loma Out
If Lomachenko had stayed at 126 and 130, where it fits more in terms of size, it would still be dominant and considered as the number 1 fighter of these weight classes. His opponents were superior when he moved in 2018.
His fight against the largest Devin Haney in 2023 was an example of Lomachenko’s lack of size for the 135 LB division. However, he decided to stay in the weight class instead of returning to 130 after losing a controversial decision to Devin.
Rich now and does not need money, the 37 -year -old Loma has decided to hang his gloves. He last struggled a year ago when he eliminated the unified ex-light champion George Kamboses Jr. In the eleventh round to capture the IBF title of 135 LB on May 12, 2024, in Perth, Australia.
The WBA champion Gervonta Davis had hoped to fight Lomachenko in unification, but the struggle did not happen because Loma chose to take the rest of 2024.
With Vasily’s retirement, its light title IBF is vacant and the temporary champion Raymond Muratalla is expected to be elevated to the full belt holder with this organization. For the first range, this is positive because he is with them and maintains the title of IBF in his possession.
