Todd Greenberg, CEO of Cricket Australia, has made a great statement on the participation of Indian players, especially Kohli, in the Big Bash League (BBL). Greenberg stated that Cricket Australia is in discussion with the BCCI to allow Indian men to participate in the T20 competition.
The BCCI restricts male Indian cricketers to compete in T20 leagues abroad. However, the rule does not apply to women players of the global franchise cricket. Stars such as Harmanparet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues have been regular players at the Big Bash League Female (WBBL).
During a media interaction, Todd Greenberg revealed that discussions with the BCCI are ongoing to explore this possibility. Greenberg added that having a star like Kohli in the BBL would significantly increase people’s commitment and television vision.

“We would like to welcome some Indian players on the BBL. Without a doubt, some conversations we will continue to have with the BCCI, I would like to see Kohli playing the BBL this year,” Greenberg said while talking in the media during an interaction organized by Cricket Australia.
“This would certainly create some interest in crowds and valuations, but for the moment it does not happen, but we have our ambitions to do these kinds of things,” added Greenberg.
The BCCI restricts Indian male players to join the T20 Leagues abroad. Above all, the Council believes that the IPL is a maximum priority, both economically and in terms of developing players, and believes that allowing participation in foreign leagues could undermine its value.
Another key reason for restriction is BCCI’s commitment to strengthen domestic tournaments such as the Ranji Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The availability of most important players for these competitions helps to preserve their quality and competitiveness.
Many T20 leagues abroad, including the Big Bash League of Australia (BBL), often take place during the domestic season of India. The BBL begins in the third week of December, coinciding with the last stages of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Todd Greenberg said Australia would give a memorable farewell to Rohit Sharma and Kohli shot if they play in Australia at the end of this year.
“It is a mass summer of cricket prominent by both women and indian men. In addition, the ashes are here, and for the first time in almost two decades, the Australian cricket will play international parties in each capital and territory throughout the country, which is amazing when you think about the logical exercise that goes with it.”
Rohit Sharma and Kohli have retired from the International Test and T20 formats in the last year. They will represent India only in hatred.
India is scheduled to resort Australia for a series of three parties in Perth, Adelaida and Sydney from October 19 to 25. They will interpret a T20i series of five games from November 29 to 8.
