Brian Norman Jr. has revealed his 2025 hit list, which includes IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis as a top target. He also wants Teofimo López, but good luck.
WBO 147-pound champion Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KOs) may be willing to drop from his $2.2 million asking price to the $1.7 million that ‘Boots’ Ennis’ promoter Eddie Hearn had recently offered him for a fight in november 8th in Philadelphia.
Hearn was unwilling to increase his offer by $500,000, which was a mistake. Ennis’ stock plummeted after her poor performance in her rematch with Karen Chukhadzhian on Nov. 8 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. In retrospect,
Hearn might wish he had gotten the extra $500,000 that Norman Jr. wanted for the unification fight in Philly. If the British promoter could do it all over again, it probably wouldn’t have been one Scrooge McDuck in the negotiations. Hearn must have thought Jaron would throw another punch at Chukadzhian like he did in their previous fight on January 7, 2023.
He didn’t consider the possibility of Karen working on his power game and going into the rematch fighting like a smaller version of Artur Beterbiev. He overcame and took out Boots, making him look like a rookie.
Ennis’ value has fallen off a cliff since that fight, and he’s worth next to nothing. Karen was putting her hands on Ennis and he looked like a mini-Beterbiev. Hearn must have been kicking himself for not getting that deal after seeing Jaron get embarrassed. .
What further hurt his worth was that he turned down a fight against WBC interim 154-pound champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. for Turki Alalshikh’s Riyadh season card on February 22. This made Ennis look like a Grade A chicken.
“2025 is my year. I have a whole list of achievements ticked off. I can see the goal, but I’m starting with Boots, that guy from Philly,” said Brian Norman Jr. a social networks. “I went in here and got this over with. I have to make this happen before it happens at 154.
“After that, Teo is playing. he is playing He’s thinking of going to 147. If you’re thinking of doing that, I’m right here. If you want to fight at 140, I’m with the WBO. With you I’ll go down to 140. No problem at all.
“This goes out to all the other 140-pound champions, too. Anyone can make it. I just want it to be known. I’ve been quiet for too long. This is my mistake, but I’m getting tougher. Now it’s time to take over this whole boxing game,” Norman Jr. said.
Norman Jr, 24, needs to get back in the ring as he hasn’t fought since knocking out Giovani Santillan in the 10th round on May 18 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. He should have fought by now.
