Al-Qaeda-related group is responsible

The al-Qaeda group states that a serious attack on the Malian city of Bulicocissi and took control of the army base.

According to sources quoted by Reuters, more than 30 soldiers were killed on Sunday, but the authorities were not confirmed by the figure.

On Monday, the same group Jama’a Nusrat Ul-ISLAM WA Al-Muslimin (JNIM) states that he sent to the military in the historic city of Timbukta.

In a statement that responded to the attack on Sunday, the Mali’s army stated that it “responded vigorously” before “respond” – judging by the tactical retreat.

“A lot of men fought, some to the last breath to protect the Malian nation,” the statement said.

The unnamed local source said Reuters that JNIM had left a lot of casualties and “cleared the camp”.

The attacks, the last sign of the destruction of security in Mali and the broad region of the Sahel, occurred after the US team warned the rise of efforts of different Islamist militants operating in Sahel to access the coastline of West Africa.

During a press conference on Friday, the US command commander (Africom), General Michael Langle, described recent attacks in Nigeria, a wider Sahel and Lake Chad basin as deeply disturbing, warning the groups to the coast significantly increase their ability to smuggle and trade in arms.

More than 400 soldiers have been believed to have been killed by militants since the beginning of last month in Mali, Burkina -fos and Niger, Reuters reports.
