The pair have been together for at least the 14th season of the show, when Ubah mentioned in a chapter by reference to Dachel as “Mr. Connecticut.”
Dachel remained, for the most part, away from the cameras, and Ubah explained why during part 1 of the Season 14 casting reunion.
“He is very private because of his work,” he said at the time.
The duo made their first public appearance together in October 2023 at the Gala Fall Theater Ballet Theater at the Lincoln Center in NYC

“This is our first time on the carpet together,” said Ubah People at the time. “We love it, it’s very beautiful. We saw last month’s George Balanchine, it was a birthday gift.” He also revealed that the pair had met through joint friends.
The couple’s relationship is a bright place during what appeared to be a difficult year for Ubah. In a January 2025 interview with Enchantmentexplained what happened to her friendship with Costar Whitfield Brynn.
“From the beginning, it felt like a bryn had been found out for me,” said Ubah at the time. “She wouldn’t have made much injections – wrapped in just enough kindness to appear innocent – that would be stacked. She felt like she was determined to create a fake narrative about me. In retrospect, I see the pattern: she would have pushed me until I later responded to me later in tears, saying how much she loves me.
Things arrived between the pair of a turmoil during the Fragment Cast trip to Puerto Rico. In the episode, Ubah claimed that Brynn had slept with someone in order to be cast on the show. In response, Brynn revealed that she had sexually assaulted her before. While Brynn claimed that Ubah knew the incident, Ubah claimed she had no information about the traumatic event.
In the interview Ubah shared that she had “repentance” for suggesting that Brynn “slept with someone to get this job.”
“The context was that he felt like a bryn was pushing all of us to perform, especially me. I said that out of frustration,” explained Ubah. “I told her I had this job because of who I am – I don’t have to fake story lines or create a play. Brynn didn’t give me this post. She’s not a producer. And even the producers don’t tell me what to do or say.”
