Taylor Swift bought the rights to its first six albums, graduating from a long -standing battle for its music.

“All the music I did, when I did, belong to me,” the star said, announcing the news on her official site. “I tapped with tears of joy … Ever since I learned it was really going on.”

The saga began in June 2019, when the Scooter Braun music manager bought a former Swift Big Machine record machine and, with it, all songs from Taylor Swift, fearless, say now, 1989 and reputation.

Swift had personal objections against the deal, blaming Bruna of complicity in a “continuous, manipulative bullying” against her Canest, one of his clients.

On her site, Swift stated that the return to her music for a long time seemed incredible.

“To say that this is my greatest dream is actually very restrained,” she added, thanked the supporters for his support when the drama dispersed.

“I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art I have devoted my life, but still never possessed.

“I almost stopped thinking that it could happen after 20 years when the carrots were hanging and then stretched out,” she wrote.

“But it’s all in the past.”

In the music industry, the main record owner controls how it spreads and licensed. The artist still earns royalty, but control over the masters offers protection over how the work is used in the future.

The reputation (Taylor’s version) is delayed?

Swift replied, promising to re -record these records, effectively reducing the cost of these main tapes and returning property.

To date, it has released four recorded albums – known as “Taylor” versions – with dozens of bonus tracks and additional material.

In her letter, the star told fans that she had not yet completed the project, after “hit the stop”, trying to remand the reputation of the album 2017 – engaged in public control of her personal life, and the fall of her hostility with Kanye West.

“The reputation album was so characteristic of the time in my life,” she explained. “All this is contrary to what a longing that needs to be understood by feeling focused on the wrong …

“Honestly, this is one album in the first six, which, in my opinion, cannot be improved by rethinking it … so I continued to postpone it.”

Last week, the star pre -viewed a new version of the first single reputation, see what you did, in the episode of the maid – but her letter suggested that full rewriting would be postponed or even canceled.

However, she promised that Sulk Tracks would come out for the future if fans are “into this idea”.

She also confirmed that she again recorded her debut of the same name, adding, “I really like it now.”

“These two albums can still have their points to re-arise when the time comes,” she added.

“But if it happens, it will not be out of the place of sadness and longing for what I would like to have. Now it will be just a holiday.”

What is the main entry?

The master’s owner controls all the rights to operate. This includes the distribution of music to streaming services, the onslaught of a new physical dispenser and vinyl, creating boxes for boxes or licensing songs in movies or video games.

The artist still earns a fee from these records, but control over the master offers the level of protection over how the work is used in the future.

Swift, as a writer or co -author of her music, has always supported her publishing rights, which meant that she was able to impose an attempt to impose a license for songs such as depriving her and love history to other companies.

“I want my music to live. I want her to be in movies. I want her to be in commercials. But I want only if I own it,” she said at Billboard in 2019.

It is unknown how much it costs to buy its masters quickly, but in 2020 the catalog sold $ 300 million (222 million pounds).

The BBC realizes that the rumors she paid from $ 600 to $ 1 billion are inaccurate.

How did Taylor Swift masters sell?

When 14-year-old Taylor Swift moved to Nashville in 2004 to pursue her dream of becoming a country pop star, she signed a record deal with a big machine.

Boss Label Scott Borchet gave the “unauthorized singer” a large monetary advance in exchange for ownership of the master -records for his first six albums “In Eternity”.

It was a fairly common practice in the era before broadcasting when the artists needed a backup to play on the radio, as well as for the production and distribution of the dispenser.

The Swift deal with Big Machine ended in 2018, and at this point it went and signed up with the Republican Records and Universal Music Group (UMG).

A year later, Borchet sold his label on IThaca Holdings Scooter Braun.

Swift said she had learned about the deal only when it was announced; Describing this as an act of aggression that “deprived me of my life.”

She stated Bruno – who became the famous leader Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande – as “determination of a toxic male privilege in our field.”

She also expressed disappointment that she could not make a counter -offer for her music.

“I spent 10 years of my life, strictly trying to buy masters straight, and then denied this opportunity” She said BillboardAdding that: “Artists may have the first right to refuse to buy.”

Brown later said Variety that the dispute “came out of hand” after he and his family were threatened with death.

Later, the musical tycoon sold his stake in the back of Shamrock Holdings Shamrock Holdings, an investment fund in Los -Andeles, founded by the Disney family in 1978, in November 2020.

The multimillion -dollar deal left again, feeling betrayed again.

“This is the second time my music was sold without my knowledge,” she said in a social media report.

While she was “open for the possibility of a partnership with the Shemrak”, then she learned that, according to the sale, Brun “continued to make a profit from my old music for years.

“I just can’t drive myself in good faith to participate in the benefits of Brown’s scooter’s interests,” she wrote in a letter to the company she posted on X.

Property on ‘Masters

In 2021, she began releasing her recorded albums, starting with her breakthrough, an album standing with Shorleless.

Derivatives from the forensic attention to the detail, they often did not differ from the originals – albeit with several pure mixtures and a larger compartment between the instruments.

But the great attractions were bonus tracks, including a foolish, 10-minute version of its broken ballad too well-designed by Variety as “Holy Grail” of the back catalog.

The song came out to the top of the American charts and made the number three in the UK – where it is the longest song, which, if – reached the top five.

At the same time, the singer continued to produce the original material, including the folklore albums that reward “Grammy” and “Midnights”.

In 2023, the Forbes magazine reported that Swift became the first musician to earn $ 1 billion ($ 740 million) exclusively from writing songs and performing.

Half of her happiness came from musical fees and touring, and the rest came from the increasing value of her musical catalog, including her census.

The revision of the old material was also inspired by the Swift Age, which earned more than $ 2 billion (1.48 billion pounds) for tickets for 2023 and 2024.

In her letter, Swift said that the success of the “Eros” tournament “so I managed to return my music.”

She added that she saw her struggle as inspired by other artists.

“Whenever the new artist tells me that they have agreed on the possession of their main records in their record from this struggle, I am reminded of how important it was for all this.

“Thank you for wondering what was previously considered too oriented in the field for a broad debate.

“You will never know how much it means to me, what you cared. Each of them counted and finished us here.”
