Australian Test Captain, Pat Cumminsexpressed sincere gratitude to indian stars Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah after leading his team to a historic 3-1 victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The victory, which ended Australia’s decade-long wait for the coveted trophy, was celebrated at the Sydney Cricket Ground after the hosts chased down a target of 162 runs on Day 3 of the final Test.
After the series win, Cummins did not contain his emotions. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he named the Border-Gavaskar series as one of his favorite Test battles. He also recognized the Indian captains, Rohit Sharma i jasprit bumrahto make the series memorable.
“Unreal Few of us did not have this Trophy. It lived up to all the hype,” Cummins said. “We’ve just been clear about our plans. We tried to be proactive, it finally worked. Immensely proud.”

Cummins praised the camaraderie within his team. “We had a lot of fun playing together. I love playing with these guys. Such a special group,” he added.
Both Rohit and Bumrah led the Indian team at different times in the series. Bumrah’s absence in the last innings of the fifth Test, due to a back problem, turned the tide in Australia’s favour. Cummins acknowledged the competitiveness of the series and thanked the Indian duo for their contributions in a fiercely contested battle.
“These are the big series you prepare for. Some exciting moments where our mainstays really stood up,” Cummins said. “It would be one of my favorite Test series. Thanks to Rohit and Jasprit. The fans made the series. Every place was amazing.”
With this Border-Gavaskar Trophy win, Pat Cummins added another accolade to his impressive captaincy record. After leading Australia to their first World Test Championship win in 2023 and retaining the Ashes EnglandCummins continues to establish himself as one of today’s most successful Test captains.
Under his leadership, Australia also won the ODI World Cup, defeating India in the final at home. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy win now completes his collection of major titles.
Cummins’ comments highlighted the enduring charm of Test cricket. He praised the packed crowds at venues such as the MCG and SCG, highlighting the energy and enthusiasm fans bring to the game.
“Three sell-outs in three days here in Sydney. It shows why Test cricket is so special and why we love playing it so much,” Cummins said. “Seeing everyone come out in pink and celebrate an amazing cause is a great way to start the year,” she concluded.
