Jose Mourinho believes that Manchester United got hooked on Ruben Amorim

Jose Mourinho has expressed his support for Manchester United’s decision to keep with the manager Ruben Amorim, despite a disappointing season that saw them finished 15th at the Premier League.

It was its lowest end and the Red Devils lost their champions’ grade in the process.

To end things, United lost 1-0 against Tottenham in the Europa League final, ending any hope of saving European football for next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Mourinho, who is still the last U.S. coach to raise a European trophy in 2017, acknowledged the harsh impact of the club’s latest setback.

“According to what I read, the impact (of the final loss of the Europa League) in Man United is huge due to the time it has spent since they have not had European competition,” said Mourinho.

“But at the same time, they seem to be supporting Ruben. They are giving him time and the right conditions to move forward.”

Amorim took over the sport in November, but could not get rid of the United, ending with fans after his unpleasant league final.

Earlier this week, he suggested that the absence of European games could be a blessing as it focuses on improving the workforce performance for the next campaign.

Mourinho can relate. He said his own early experience in Porto in 2002 reflected the current situation of Amorim. “When I went to Porto, the same thing happened,” he explained.

“I arrived in January and had six difficult months. Even we were struggling to classify us in the UEFA Cup. And then it happened, what happened.”

Mourinho’s first full season in Porto was successful. He brought them to a domestic thing and then captured the title of the Champions League the following year.

Now, managing Fenerbahce in Turkey, he sees a similar opportunity for Amorim to build this start at Old Trafford.
