Teofimo López is looking for a top buy, an agency free of prying eyes

[ad_1]

Teofimo López posted on X today, asking his Top Rank promoters what their “buy” number is so you can get out of the rest of your contract.

Why this sudden burst of energy from Lopez asking his promoters for the purchase number? He got to see free agent Devin Haney wrestle at BLK Prime on March 25th and likely make some good money. Teo may want to participate in the event.

Teofimo’s departure from Top Rank?

As a free agent, Lopez could be snapped up by Eddie Hearn’s playroom, or he could choose to follow Haney’s strategy of remaining in that capacity.

WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo (21-1-1, 13 KOs) seems to believe he’ll have bigger fights once he leaves Top Rank, but it’s questionable whether that will happen. Teo’s loss to George Kambosos Jr. and controversial wins over Jamaine Ortiz and Sandor Martin showed that he is a limited fighter.

How come López doesn’t know his purchase number? Your manager should be able to give you this information. Top Rank has done a man’s job with Teofimo during his career. It’s not their fault he’s looked so poor since his big career win against Vasily Lomachenko in 2020.

Teofimo is currently expected to fight former IBF light welterweight champion Subriel Matias on March 15th in a non-PPV event on ESPN. There is a good chance that Lopez could lose this fight as he looks terrible against Jamaine, Sandor and Steve Claggett.
