On Sunday, a double citizen of the United States and Germany was arrested for allegedly trying to burn the US Embassy in Tel -Aviv, Israel, the Justice Ministry reports.
Officials said they arrested the 28th Joseph Noimier at John F Kennedy Airport in New York. It was deported by the Israeli authorities after being found with explosive devices in a backpack near the embassy.
Mr. Neumeyer appeared in court on Sunday and went to prison, the Justice Ministry said.
“This defendant is accused of planning a devastating attack aimed at our Embassy in Israel, threatening the Americans and the life of President Trump,” said the Prosecutor General Bondi.
The arrest comes a few days after the militant killed two Israeli Embassy staff outside the Jewish Museum in Washington.
Federal officials say Mr. Noimier arrived in Israel in April and headed to the US Embassy in Tel Aviv on May 19.
The 28-year-old spat on the Embassy’s guard when he was passing by, the Justice Ministry said. When the guard tried to detain him, Mr. Noimier allegedly escaped, leaving behind a backpack with three Molotov cocktails, small bombs made of combustible liquids designed to incite the fires as soon as they are lit and thrown.
Later, police found Mr. Naemiere in his hotel where he was arrested, the Ministry of Justice said.
Officials say he posted in his account on social media, who pledged to “burn the embassy to Tel -Aviv” and called “death to America, death by Americans.”
Officials say Mr. Neumeyer also threatened to kill Trump in social media reports on another account that is allegedly linked to him.
Mr. Noheir was sent to the United States on Sunday, where he was arrested. If he is found guilty, he faces a maximum of 20 years of imprisonment.
Last Wednesday, young couple Jaron Lyshinsky and Sarah Lin Milgrim were shot dead at the event at the Metropolitan Museum in Washington.
Police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, who, according to them, shouted “free Palestine” after he shot a couple.
Home Security Minister Christie Noah is expected to take part in a memorial in Israel for the victims on Monday.
