This month, Tripadvisor He has published an annual summer journey index that revealed higher international directions for US travelers.
The report found that US travelers are looking for abroad for both major cities and rest for beach places, with 51% of travelers referring to their main cause of the journey,-to relax and rejuvenate.
“This is part of a constant trend when people want to enter a truly more culture they can take and get a little more out of the broken way,” says CNBC Hillary Fisher-Graban, Senior Director Global Brand, Insights and Comms.
“A lot of places are the directions where you can go and do some classic events, but also make great points for jumping for others. It really talks about the variety of what travelers want to do now.”
To rank the cities, Tripadvisor used data from online appointments over 2,800 consumers spent between March 26 and April 8, 2025 in six countries: Australia, Japan, France, Singapore, UK and USA, which also used travelers’ searches on Tripadvisor between 1, 2025.
The four of the top 10 directions for us travelers are in the Caribbean.
“People really crave rest and beautiful beaches. I think it is a testament to the strange work of the hospitality industry in these places,” says Fisher-Graban. “I think we see a lot of beautiful innovations and freshness in some properties that are certainly pulling people.”

Cancun, Mexico, is the main place for US travelers.
“It’s always strong on our list and still remains popular. There’s anything for everyone and you can really get a lot of beautiful nature,” says Fisher-Graban. “There is incredible hospitality and resorts at virtually every prices in Cancun. It can be quite convenient and there is a major airport.”
Cancun is in the southeastern Mexico and is a significant tourist destination. The area is known for its white sandy beaches and cultural attractions, such as the underwater art museum near Islas.
The city is also located next to the Mexican hot points Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. From May to the beginning of September, the area is also known for its observations.
