Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings co -owner Preitity Zinta He has begun legal procedures against his fellow co -directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia. The dispute focuses on the legitimacy of an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) held on April 21, 2025 by KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company that owns the Punjab Kings franchise.
Preity, which has 23% participation in KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, has filed a civil lawsuit in a Chandigarh court, which wants to declare illegal and invalid EGM on April 21. He claims that the meeting was convened and was carried out in violation of the 2013 Companies Law and the Secretariat standards. According to his request, the meeting did not follow the appropriate procedures required under the legislation of the company and the regulations of relevant secretariat.
The controversy was climbed when Zinta proposed objections to the meeting by an email of April 10, which claims that it was ignored. Despite his dissent and the presence of director Karan Paul, both Zinta and Paul opposed the nomination of Munesh Khanna as new director during the EGM. However, Burman, with the support of Wadia, proceeded to the meeting and appointment of Khanna.
A key containment point was the president’s appointment for the meeting. Zinta and Paul opposed Ness Wadia to be named President, citing the principle 5.1 of the secretariat rules, which orders the counselors to choose a president among them if he is not previously designated. The President’s vote was divided between the four attending directors, further complicating the legality of the meeting procedure.
In his legal presentation, Zinta has requested a court declaration to annul the EGM and prevent Munesh Khanna from taking over management responsibilities. He has also requested an order to prevent the company implementing the decisions made during the meeting. In addition, the demand aims to prevent the company from performing any other general board or meetings without the presence of Zinta and Paul, and without the participation of Khanna, until the case is resolved.
The court has issued warnings to respondents-kPH Dream Cricket Private Limited and co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia-I has scheduled the next May 27 audience, where arguments on a provisional order will be presented.
