Dr. Jeffrey Elder of the University Medical Center in New Orleans told CNN that most of the patients at the hospital were being treated for “blunt trauma,” while a few patients suffered gunshot wounds.

Here’s what we know about the survivors.

Yeremi Sensky51, from Pennsylvania, told NBC News he was in his wheelchair when he was hit.

Sensky said he has been paralyzed since 1999 and that his “wheelchair was completely smashed” with pieces scattered about.

He said both of his legs were broken, but said he was lucky to be alive. He remembered lying on the ground and seeing parts of his wheelchair next to him.

Alexis Scott-Windham, an Alabama resident, was shot in the leg and has multiple fractures, according to NOLA.com.

Her friends called her mother for help as she lay bleeding on Bourbon Street, and her mother told them to apply a tourniquet to control her bleeding, NBC News reported.

She described what happened to WSAZ and said she was also hit by a speeding truck.

“The next thing you know, we hear loud screams and we hear a noise that goes bang, bang, bang. And the next thing you know, I’m looking to the left so fast. I see a car coming towards me. the lights are off,” she said.

“As he got closer I said, ‘No, it can’t be a drunk driver because he would have crashed by now.’ He was going about 70mph, he was trying to hit as many people as he could.’

Two Israeli reservists were also wounded, their names are withheld. The men, both in their mid-to-late 20s, were received a leave of absence from the Hamas war and decided to go to the US as tourists, an Israeli diplomat told Fox News Digital.

Two Officers of the New Orleans Police Department were also injured and both are expected to make a full recovery, NOPD attorney Eric Hessler, a former NOPD officer, told Fox News Digital.

The two officers, whose identities have not been released, were on their way to an unrelated call early New Year’s morning when “the car just flew past them and hit the crane,” Hessler said.

A New Orleans law firm representing one of the survivors of the New Year’s Eve terror attack said it is filing a lawsuit against the city of New Orleans and New Orleans Police Department for failing to take “basic security measures” in the run-up to the attack.

Maples & Connick, LLC said the city’s “negligence paved the way for the tragic events that occurred” early Wednesday, which they said “were predictable and preventable.” The firm said it would file a lawsuit on January 8.

The lawsuit may be the first of many filed by the survivors’ families.

Fox News’ Alex Neitzberg, Landon Mion, Audrey Conklin and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
