In the world of fame, Cannes Film Festival Known for two things: excess fashion moments and excessive standing ovations.
Since the festival’s new dress code prohibits theatrical extravagance – including long trains and naked dresses – invested fans are left to entertain themselves with reports of the time our favorite stars spent clapping for the new movies.
Although it is not known where the practice of extended approval in Cannes originated, film buffs have adhered to the practice as a litmus test for film success and the potential of refereeing – at the same level as the festive Palme d’Or Prize. (The current entry is caught by Guillermo del toro‘S. Labyrinth whenwith 22 minutes of clapping at the 2006 festival.)
Take last year for example: The substance. Emilia Pérez and Aor They were among the films with the longest friends in Cannes – apparently, 11, 10 and nine minutes, respectively – and Trifecta movies went on to score a total of 24 nominations.
