The United States will impose new sanctions in Sudan after using chemical weapons in the current civil war against fast support forces (RSF).
US exports to the country will be limited, and financial borrowing restrictions to be delivered from June 6, a statement by Bruce Reed.
Both the Sudanese military and the RSF paramilitary group were previously accused of war crimes during the conflict.
BBC contacted Sudan to respond to the latest US actions. Sudanese officials say they have no statement yet.
More than 150,000 people were killed during a conflict that began two years ago when the Sudan and the RSF army began an evil struggle for power.
In recent months Sudan’s military Khartum’s capital was recalled, but the struggle continues elsewhere.
No details were presented what chemical weapons stated that it revealed, but in January the New York Times reported that Sudan used chlorine gas twice, causing a number of painful and destructive effects and could be deadly.
“The United States calls on the Sudan government to stop using all chemical weapons and support its obligations within the CWC,” the statement said in a chemical weapon convention under which the signatories pledged to destroy their weapons reserves.
Almost every country in the world – including Sudan – agreed with CWC, except Egypt, North Korea and South Sudan, in accordance with the Association for Arms Control, the American non -partisan organization. Israel has signed the agreement but did not ratify its signature, it means that it did not legally confirmed its involvement in the contract, the ACA adds.
“The United States remains completely committed to the accounting, which is responsible for the contribution to the distribution of chemical weapons,” Bruce added.
This is not the first time the US has imposed sanctions in Sudan. In January, they were issued against the leaders of both sides involved in the conflict.
Sudan’s military leader Abdel Fatah al-Burhan was accused of “destabilization of Sudan and undermining the purpose of a democratic transition” The US, which condemned the country’s foreign ministry as “strange and disturbing”.
Meanwhile, the head of the RSF, Mohammed Hamdan, also known as Hemedti, was determined by a perfect genocide Former Secretary of State Anthony Bankin is in the country.
For the last two years, the parties have been fighting for power, displacing about 12 million people and leaving 25 million food assistance needs, more than twice as much as London.
New sanctions will have a slight impact on the country as a result of these previous measures, AFP reports.
The last step in the US also led to tensions about the participation of the United Arab Emirates in the conflict. UAE and Sudan supported diplomatic connections By the beginning of this month When the Sudan government claimed the UAE provided the UAE’s weapon, the UAE has denied.
After the warm reception of US President Donald Trump in the Gulf state last week, the Democrats in Congress sought to block weapons from the United States in the UAE in part thanks to the alleged participation in the conflict.
The Sudanese diplomatic source told Reuters news agency that the United States had imposed new sanctions “to divert from a recent campaign in Congress against the UAE.”
Earlier this month, UN’s best court dismissed Sudan’s application sue the UAE for genocide.
