Dancing with the stars aum Lindsay Arnold sheds new light on the “intense” dance culture at Utah.
During a recent appearance on the “Hot Smart Rich” A podcast, Arnold, 31, was asked why there are so many dance room dancers that can be identified – especially those who go on Dump – have links with Utah and Mormon’s lifestyle.
“I feel like in Utah, it’s very common, definitely parents want their children to be doing an activity,” he explained. “That’s something that is very obvious. Like, you put your child in something and you really put them all in.”
In her own experience, Arnold noted that her parents “love to push” her and her brothers and sisters in their passion areas “because she kept us out of trouble” after school. (Lindsay’s younger sister Rylee arnold followed in his footsteps as Dump pro.)

“Mormon culture is very large, as, we want our children to be good children and not get into trouble and not explore different things that could lead them in turbulent areas,” he continued. “So I feel like a lot of parents put their children in something and then push him hard.”

Hot Smart Rich/YouTubeAnother factor? “The dance culture in Utah is very intense, in the best way,” added Lindsay. “I also believe that so many of us (from Utah) have prepared the way these dancers and parents see what is possible, and so they are more willing to give (in) money, time. Because dance is a full investment.”
Lindsay made his first appearance on TV on So you think you can dance Season 9 in 2012, joins Dump A year later as one of the youngest benefits of the franchise. Mirrorball’s trophy won in 2017 with season partner 25 Jordan Fisher. Lindsay last appeared on the show during season 30 in 2021. (Meanwhile, Rylee competed Dump For the first time in 2023.)
