The United States has chosen the design for the Futuristic Missile Defense System “Golden Kupala”, says US President Donald Trump, adding that he will work until the end of his time.
Just a few days after returning to the White House, in January, Trump presented his intentions to the system aimed at counteracting the “air” threat to the next generation, including ballistic and cruise missiles.
The initial amount of $ 25 billion (18.7 billion pounds) was recognized in a new budget account – although the government estimated that it would cost much more than for decades.
Officials warn that existing systems do not keep up with the increasingly complex weapons that potential opponents possess.
President Trump has also announced that Space General Michael Hetlein would watch the project. Currently, the Hetlein gene is Vice -Chief of Space Operations.
Seven days in the second administration, Trump ordered the Ministry of Defense to submit plans on a system that would hold back and defended against air attacks, which, according to the White House, remain the “most catastrophic threat” facing the United States.
Speaking in the Oval office on Tuesday, Trump said the system would consist of “next generation” on the ground, sea and space, including space sensors and interceptors. He added that Canada asked to become part of the system.
During the visit to Washington, then, then, then, the then Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair acknowledged that Canada was interested in participating in the Kupala project, claiming that it “made sense” and was in the “national interest” of the country.
He added that “Canada should know what is happening in the region” and remember the threats, including in the Arctic.
Trump added that the system would “even intercede missiles launched from the other world or launched from space.”
The system is partly inspired by Israel’s iron dome, which the country has used rockets and missiles since 2011.
The golden dome, however, would be many times larger and designed to combat a broader range of threats, including hypersonic weapons capable of moving faster than the speed of sound and fractional orbital bombing systems – also called Fobs – which can deliver combat units from space.
“They will all be knocked out of the air,” Trump said. “The amount of success is very close to 100%”.
Earlier, US officials said that the “golden dome” would have the goal of allowing the US to stop missiles at different stages of their deployment, including before launching and while they are still in the air.
Many aspects of the system fall into one centralized command, US defense officials said.
On Tuesday, Trump said the program would require $ 25 billion with a total cost of $ 175 billion over time. The initial $ 25 billion was discovered within its large beautiful tax bill that has not yet been adopted.
However, the Congress budget bureau estimates that the government could eventually spend more, up to $ 542 billion over 20 years, only on the space parts of the system.
Pentagon representatives have long outlined that existing systems do not hit new missile technologies developed by Russia and China.
“There is actually no modern system,” Trump said in an oval office on Tuesday. “We have certain areas of missiles and some missile defense, but there is no system … There was never nothing like.”
The briefing document recently released by the intelligence agency notes that missile threats “will expand on scale and sophistication” and China and Russia are actively developing “space use” systems in defense.
