Coach Stephen Edwards says that Terence Crawford’s year outside the ring will not negatively affect his performance against Canelo Alvarez on September 13. Edwards states that Crawford (41-0, 31 kos) has never shown the Ring yolk in the many years he has been inactive and he considers that he will not hurt his performance against the super mid-point semi-grade champion (63-2-2, 39 kos) in his Mega-Lluita.
Crawford can’t hurt Canelo
Fans believe that 37-year-old Crawford is shooting on the foot sitting on the margin, feeding power to increase and choosing not to prove against a higher 168 LB fighter to prepare for Alvarez.
“I always like Crawford in the fight. I think Crawford will win,” said coach Stephen Edwards Fight Hub TVChoosing Terence Crawford on Canelo Alvarez in his fight on September 13. “I just think it will be too much. Yes. Anyone can be injured in a fight,” Stephen said when asked if Terence can hurt Alvarez. “Wrist has a great chin, but anyone can be injured on a certain night.”
Crawford won’t hurt Canelo. Let’s go out right there right now. It does not affect strong enough, and if your neck is gluing trying to remove the Mexican star, it will be on the line of shootings to leave -to explode. Canelo has struggled three times to Gennadiy Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, Callum Smith and Dmitry Bivol, to name just a few fighters with much more power than Terence.
“Every time he moves away, he never looks rusty,” Edwards said when he was asked if Crawford’s inactivity will be a factor against Canelo. “He is one of those guys who are never rushed. It is applied to many fighters, but he defies logic because he does not seem rusty in his layoffs.”
Edwards is not conveniently mentioned the level of opposition that Crawford fought after its long dismissal. Did not fight any killer. The best Terence fighter fought for the last five years, with his free time, is Israil Madrimov, and he deserved to lose this struggle in the eyes of many fans. Canelo says he saw Madrimov as winner. Crawford fought against Errol Spence, Kell Brook and Shawn Porter, reaching long layoffs, but they were all washed.
None of them were anywhere they were when they were in place. It would have been a different story if Crawford returned from its four layoffs against killers such as Bakhram Murtazaliev, Dmitry Bivol, Jaron Ennis, Vergil Ortiz JR, Janibek Alimkhanuly and David Benavidez.
Crawford has had five expanded layoffs from 11 months to 1 year since 2019. Although he has not been rusty since he left these layoffs, he has always fought against the opposition. The only exception was his last fight against Israil Madrimov, which possibly lost, but received victory.
History of Crawford’s dismissal since 2019
December 14, 2019 vs Egidijus Kavaliauskas
November 14, 2020 vs. Need Brook – 11 months inactive
November 20, 2021 vs. Shawn Porter – 12 months
December 10, 2022 vs. David Avanayan – 11 months
July 29, 2023 vs. Errol Spence – 7 months
August 3, 2024 vs. Israil Madrimov – 13 months
“It seems to have a very fast processing mind. It may seem to fit anything,” said Edwards on Crawford. “It’s like a savar in a boxing ring. You probably can’t explain how it fits everything. You can only adjust to anything in a fight. It’s a great fighter.”
Who has been adjusted to Crawford? When you are fighting boys like Avanayan, a car accident destroyed Spence and a past its main goalkeeper does not mean much that you can adjust -you do what they do.
“Safe,” Edwards said when he was asked if Crawford has advantages about Canelo. “Best resistance, better conditioning and better feet. Obviously, Canelo is the toughest punch and probably the strongest guy. But I think he (Crawford) has a better skill and more agility. He will be better in later rounds. It’s a little taller and his arms are longer. Yes, I think he has many advantages.”
Stephen is right that Crawford has a better resistance, a length of the arm and a height that I have a cane. However, he did not see all agile or skill in his fight against Israil Madrimov. It seemed to be oxidized in the joints of inactivity. This happens when a fighter takes a year of rest between fights for five consecutive years. If Crawford had been occupied, fighting three times a year, I would not have had this problem.
“I do not agree with that. I think Crawford will be the strongest fighter in the subsequent rounds. I think the first part of the struggle is where it should take care,” said Edwards. “I think the first part of the struggle can be cut if it is not attentive. But I think it works better in the subsequent rounds than in Canelo.”
Crawford was not strong at 11 and twelve rounds against the “Petit GGG” Israil Madrimov last August. He lit up on the right hands and resembled a 40 -year -old. There was nothing strong about the way Crawford was seen in the last two rounds, and definitely did not look young unless you compare it with one of the long lives Large basin treesthey live more than 4,000 years.
