The beach season is around the corner, and we can hardly wait. So while we stand aside for all the memorable, sun -filled days spent by the ocean, there is no better time than now to prepare our sunscreen bars.
It’s safe to say that we all know how vital it is to wear SPF. But with so much information and products on the market, how do we know which formulas to use and the best application techniques to practice?
Fortunately for us, Dhaval G. BhanusaliCertified Board Certified Dermatologist is Hudson Dermatology and Laser Surgery — whose clients include Hailey Bieber and Martha Stewart – He shared his highest tips for effective shading against UV rays.
From his honest attitude on mineral sunscreen to the keywords to look for on labels, this is his anti -fool guide to solid solar care.
Is mineral sunscreen – aka infused formulas with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide – essential for elegant appearance? Not always. “Previously, they were thought to be better for sensitive skin, but with better formulas and science, there is no longer such a split,” explained Bhanusali. If you are a fan of physical combinations we love the Future Screen Screen 50 Modern Mineral Screen from Ultra violette.
Reminded the expert Us You are not only vulnerable to UV damage when in the sun: “UV rays can penetrate through glass and are even present during the cloudy days when you least expect it.”
Bhanusali encourages sunscreen selection with “SPF of at least 30 or above” and ensures “broad spectrum” on the packaging. Go-to? The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Mineral Liquid Sun Surface With Wide Spectrum SPF 70As he “proceeds invisible and blends very well.” Not to mention, it is “hydrated and (great) for all skin types.”
“One of the best anti-aging hacks I teach my patients is the application of sunscreen on the neck, décolletage and back hands,” he shared. “Although it may not seem important now, it makes all the difference when someone is aging.”
“Tan is your body’s sign trying to defend itself after injury,” said Bhanusali. “Sunburn is actually the result of cell death. The hyperpigmentation you get later directly because of the decisions you make today,” it emphasizes. And if you are trying to reduce the intensity of dark spots right now we recommend that a radiation boost is similar Serum Molecular Hero of Mother’s Science.
“Put about two finger lengths of sunscreen and reapply every two hours, especially if it’s out in the sun,” said the dermatologist. “I like (using) three finger lengths a little better, so there’s enough for the neck too.”
“There are many toned sunscreen (and powders) that can help improve skin appearance,” notes, adding that the latter is best suited for “reapply” purposes only. We are fans of these two trusting injections: La Roche-Posay Mineral Suns and Total Sunforgettable Colorescience Brush Shield-Front SPF 50.
“Not all sunscreen causes a white cast,” he emphasizes. “We have much better formulations these days, and many of my patients use sunscreen under their make -up and have no problems at all.”
If you are looking for a holiday SPF that also doubles as a great cosmetics primer, Bhanusali suggests UV Eltamd Skin Recovery. “The green toner helps make up for any redness you have and go on the skin without a doubt.”
