The Swedish Foreign Minister spoke about grief among her colleagues after it turned out that the diplomat, who had been questioned this week on suspicion, was found dead.
A man described as a high -ranking diplomat was arrested on Sunday Säpo Secult Service Service Service and released on Wednesday. He denied violations, although the prosecutor’s office said he remained under suspicion.
Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard issued a statement saying that her thoughts were with her family, friends and colleagues of the diplomat, and said it was a difficult day.
She said she could not go into details about the case. Police said there were no suspicious death circumstances.
Former Foreign Minister Carl Bildt called the “tragically deceased ambassador” as an extremely gifted and competent one who worked in different roles in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Swedish reports say he had spent long periods outside Europe as an ambassador. When asked to confirm whether the died person was an ambassador, his lawyer Anton Stand said he had no comments.
Images of the door to the apartment of the diplomat on Swedish television showed that they were forced to open during his arrest.
The diplomat applied for medical treatment and submitted a report in which he claimed that excessive force was used at the time. Säpo said the arrest was peaceful.
Mr. Strand said in a statement to the BBC: “I provided his official abuse report during the arrest that came to the special investigation department. The investigation has begun.”
The confirmed reports of the SVT public television expert believed that Säpo has investigated a possible reference to the sudden resignation of a new national security adviser Tobias Tiberg, who abandoned the clock after the role.
A few hours before he resigned, sensitive photos of him in the Grindr dating app were sent to the government anonymously.
Mr. Strand did not commented on it, but said he received the news of his client’s death early on Friday, and his thoughts were with his family.
The Lindkvist prosecutor told Swedish television that death was very regretted, and the preliminary investigation of the suspect was not completed.
Swedish reports say the man was in the 50’s and returned to his home in Central Stockholm after a long period.
