Shakur Stevenson’s “Glass Hands” will cost you against the punching machine William Zepeda?

Shakur Stevenson says he will “put the belt on a ***” in defense of the WBC’s light strap title against William Zepeda on July 12 at the Turki Alralikh event in Queens, New York. Stevenson (23-0, 11 kos) seemed to be impressed when he mentioned that some people see it as the “hardest struggle” of their career. It does not seem to feel that way, but fans could be right. Shakur sometimes fought in his latest defense title against the electrician Josh Padley, whom his promoter, Eddie Hearn, picked up for him.

Glass hands, real danger?

Stevenson’s glass hands put him at risk of losing against Zepeda because he is not the type of fighter who can fight by throwing punches or struggling with one hand. You will need both hands working and you will have to sit on your shots.

On July 12, Shakur vs Zepeda (33-0, 27 kos) will meet at the Co-Cinema on the Edgar Berlanga Card vs. Hamzah Sheeraz at the Louis Armstrong stadium in Queens, New York.

“On paper, this is supposed to be the hardest struggle of my career. So let’s see what happens on July 12,” said Shakur Stevenson a Ring MagazineSpeaking of his defense of the title against William Zepeda in Queens, New York. “I am very scared. I don’t think I am so afraid of my life. You have a big, strong and physical guy. He came there to impose his will. I’m very afraid of this struggle, yes.”

Whether you want to admit -or not, Zepeda is the hardest struggle in Shakur’s career. He is younger, stronger, throws more punches and is more aggressive than the limited boys to which he faces. So far, Stevenson’s best opponents have been limited to these fighters:

– Jamel Herring – 35 and has passed
– Oscar Valdez: Wash
– Edwin de los Santos – inexperienced
– Joet Gonzalez
– Jeremiah Nakathilia

That’s everything. These are the best boys that Stevenson has fought during his eight -year professional, and these are not near the level that Zepeda is fighting. None of these fighters could compete with him.

Shakur: “Zepeda stops me?”

“William Zepeda said to stop at the tenth round. See,” Shakur said. “I’m going to come there to put the belt on a ** and act to fight it. July 12 will be a better show (which on May 2). You took me to the card and I feel that I am better than all the fighters on this card.”

If Stevenson means that it is better than anyone on the July 12 card, it is wrong. It would not be in the game if it were better than all the fighters. As for the May 2 event, Shakur is not better than Teopimo Lopez. Talent, is at the level of Devin Haney. He lacks Ryan Garcia and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero’s Power and Aggressiveness. Shakur’s skills are good, but he has no power or strong hands to make him a complete fighter. His hands are made of glass.

“I feel that my struggle is a tougher and better struggle (than the main confrontation of events between Edgar Berlanga and Hamzah Sheeraz),” said Shakur. “My struggle is also a title struggle. So it makes sense. We are in New York. It’s your hometown, so it should be a fun event.”

Stevenson’s struggle with Zepeda could be tougher than the main event, but not because of it. Zepeda is the one who will carry it with his high production, power and hardness. Shakur is taking a walk.

Who is really anecting?

“So you admit that he is sticking to me,” Shakur said about Zepeda. “I think it would be a tough task for any person in the division. He throws a million strokes. He’s going to impose his will. One thing is that we know what he comes to do. There are different things in my game where you don’t know what I will do,” Shakur said.

Zepeda was trying to fight Shakur on May 3, but he heard it was too early. So who is what you are going? Instead of complaining, he should be happy to fight him now, because he has the opportunity to try and show the fans that he is better than him. There are a lot of people who believe that Zepeda will win this struggle and will make Shakur seem bad to put it in the race all night as he did Los Santos.
