Zepeda challenges Stevenson to stand and fight, Hearn presses the ring title on July 12

William Zepeda told Kickoff’s press conference today in New York that he wants to see if Shakur Stevenson will make a backup of his standing words and fight on July 12 at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens. Invicta Zepeda (33-0, 27 kos) says he hoped that Stevenson (23-0, 11 kos) resorts to boxing as he always does, instead of getting ready and slim.

Shakur’s promoter Eddie Hearn said he wants Ring Lightweight’s title to be played for Stevenson-Enda’s struggle, turning the winner into the “king of division”.

“If this man was from the United Kingdom, it would be an absolute superstar,” Eddie Hearn said during today’s press conference, talking about Shakur Stevenson. “I know the rings belt is vacant. This belt should be on the Shakur and William Zepeda line on July 12. You will see why Shakur Stevenson is one of the biggest fighters. These are two fighters who deserve to be the king of division. The king should be crowned on July 12.

Zepeda: Put and Fight

“I think on July 12, the world will know who William Zepeda is,” Zepeda said. “I do not care what Eddie says. I hope Shakur does what he says he will and will be ready. Shakur says he will be ready and fight, we fight and fight. We have a plan A and a plan B. He says he will be ready and will fight me, but he will have to go back to the box.”

“I sell to perform a performance. I will go in for the best performance of my career,” Shakur said. “You can’t do anything different. He’s going to throw the maximum punch and tire me. He will have the best version of Shakur Stevenson.

“I’m not sleeping at William Zepeda. I have to close -and step on it. That’s what I have to do,” Shakur said.

“I want to be known as a Mexican legend,” Zepeda said.

“It can’t be. Of course, I want the tank’s struggle, but if I don’t go through Zepeda, there is no tank struggle,” said Shakur.
