Police in Mexico arrested a retired judge who is accused of fake evidence related to the disappearance of 43 students from iguala more than a decade ago.
Lambertin Galena Marin was president of the highest justice tribunal in Guerre, when in 2014 the internship teachers were missing.
The age of 79 is suspected of giving an order that led to the disappearance of CCTV, which, according to investigators, were key to the case.
Three years after the arrest warrant was issued, she was arrested in Chilpansing.
The disappearance of 43 students – who all studied at the same college to prepare teachers in the city of Iyotica – has long gave rest Mexico.
More than ten years and, despite several investigations, much is unknown about what happened on the night of September 26, 2014.
The remains of three students were found, and the location of 40 others remains a mystery, although they were allegedly killed.
Report by 2022. Commission on Truth The Mexico Government, which is investigating the case, has found that it is a crime funded by a state in which federal and state bodies are involved.
According to the commission report, the local police cooperated with members of the criminal group to violently disappear.
Students went to igual to send buses to take them to an annual protest to Mexico City.
Mexico government said both the police and the local criminal group known as Guerreros Unidos (United Warriors) were warned about students’ activities.
Guerreros Unidos suspected that students who seize buses in Iguale were insightful participants of the rival criminal gang Los Rhjos, the report notes.
Both the police and the Guerreros Unidos were then installed several blocks in the city and around it, he added.
One of these blocks, staffed by local, state and federal police on the street outside the Justice Palace.
Two staff of the Justice Palace told investigators that the Palace’s security cameras seized what happened at the checkpoint.
However, the footage was never handed over to the authorities, and when officials tried to find it almost a year later, the shots were “lost”, investigators said in 2015.
Prosecutors have since claimed that Mrs. Galean has ordered to destroy or remove the frames.
The official statement of the Ministry of Security of Mexico said Ms Galena would face charges.
