9-1-1 star Ryan Guzman suggests season 9 changes to Eddie

9-1 star Ryan Guzman Mourning the death of captain Bobby Nash just like everyone else – but first, his character, Eddie, said goodbye to say goodbye.

“I got the call (about Bobby dying) by (our showrunner) Tim (Minar) When I hadn’t actually worked in a month or two, ”explained only Guzman to Weekly US Before the Finishing Season 9 of the Show. “I hadn’t been in two episodes. So I thought the call was for me! I thought I was on the cut block.”

Eddie Guzman has spent a majority of season 8 in El Paso, Texas, trying to win the affections of his son, Christopher (back (Gavin mchugh), who moved in with his grandparents when their relationship deteriorated in season 7. The duo has since reunited, but Eddie was still nowhere to be found when Bobby was (Peter Krause) Contracted a deadly virus that eventually led to his death.

Finally, Bobby’s funeral came back to La, and by the penultimate episode of the season he hadn’t left. While there is still a permanent return to the city of angels, Guzman teased that La is where Eddie is truly “belonging.”

Here, Guzman talks to Us for what to expect 9-1-1 ‘The end of 8 s season, reflects on the loss of Costar Krause and more:

Weekly US: Ryan, we’re excited to get you here, fresh off a crazy season. It has been an intense season, an emotional season. Obviously we’re dealing with the outcome of the death of a dear character. What was your response when you discovered that Peter was leaving?

Ryan Guzman: I was in shock. I was in complete shock. That is, you think of the core group and you never think they are going to leave. Or, if one leaves, we all leave, right? But it was just a shock and a strange thing to know that someone was going to be off the show, but then still working with them. Every time I saw him, I would give him a hug and be like, “Oh man, I would still socialize! We are still friends.”

Us: Does it never make you nervous as an actor? Like, if he can go …

RG: Well, honestly, I got the call from (our showrunner) Tim (when) I hadn’t worked in a month or more. I hadn’t been in two episodes. So I thought the call was for me!

Us: Oh, really?

RG: I thought I was on the cut block. But no, you’re always a kind of concern. And now you know this has happened, you have to be on your feet.

Us: Definitely. Many fans were upset that Eddie was not there for Bobby’s death.

RG: Mm-hmm.

Us: What was your response to that? Was anything broken that we didn’t see? Because I think fans may want a little more of you.

Ryan: Yes. We made a meant response for this (chapter 17), right? And was much longer than shown.

Us: Oh, okay.

Ryan: But I mean, even though I got those two episodes away, I spent it with my children. That’s all I cared for. I didn’t even realize – I’m like, “Oh, two huge episodes are currently being filmed.”

Us: We have this big finale (season 8) coming. The 118 appears to be trapped. What can you tease about the episode and how may this set the mood of what is to come?

RG: Well, I mean, now we’re under the new landscape with no Bobby, so no Captain. … You feel that something is missing and now we are trying to find out what fills that space. So that’s what we kind of find in this next chapter.

Us: So will we have a reply about who is the captain going forward?

RG: I think we will have an understanding of where the team is. I do not know of such a far -fitted captain (new naming).

Us: When he was in Texas he seemed to move a little, with his wardrobe and things like that. Was that deliberate? Because he appeared to be moving back in terms of la

RG: Absolutely. That is, I made a kind of pull from my own experience – when I go back to Sacramento, I wear a little different than I do in La kind of as hometown vibrations. You had to disappoint your guard. So that’s kind of what I leaned in with Eddie and as much as he loves where he comes from, Texas, I really think La is where Eddie belongs.

Us: How is Bobby’s death outcome going to affect Eddie? Because it seems to be in a dark place. Is that fair to say?

RG: It could be. He could return back right into Old Eddie. But there has been so much growth and work through Eddie over the last seven seasons, that we could actually be at the forefront of a new version of Eddie where he can take on more.

Us: Is that exciting for you as an actor?

RG: It is. You know, you always want to keep it new.

Us: Of all the arcs that Eddie has had, what has been your favorite or most challenging one?

RG: This last season was probably one of my favorites. You know, from the mustache and all the funny things with that. And the dancing, you know, half naked. (laughs) It is, like, all those different things. It’s a very fun season.

Us: Was there anything you are like, “I don’t know if I’m going to do it!”

RG: Honestly, the dancing part was like, “Uh, I want to be in my conies?! Okay. We’ll figure it out. We’ll figure it out.”

Us: If you had to describe this ending in just a few words, what would that be?

RG: United.

Us: United, okay! Was it strange to film this without Peter though? Oliver (Stark) Telling you filmed his death and then you went back to filming a previous chapter, so he was out of order.

RG: So strange. So strange. I will text Peter randomly when I miss him. .. It is very strange. We have Brian, who plays the other captain. And it is also a pleasure to work with her outside his personality as the character he plays.

Us; Despite the heaviness of the episode in the past, many fans could not help but notice that Eddie and Chris had finished the episode happily on Buck’s couch. Are you aware of the theorizing of the sofa?

RG: No!

Us: Those courts have a deeper meaning between Buck and Eddie? Because obviously you know, a relationship…

RG: Oh! I’m curious now. (laughs)

Us: You have to go through the fan and everything theories. But fans always wonder, and I’m sure you get this question a lot, do you ever feel like they should explore that relationship a little more?

RG: I feel it is better (the way) they are right now. Because it’s such a lovely opportunity. I know many people want to see something and maybe that’s attractive part and we keep that (way). But I am delighted that we are able to draw on network television, a heterosexual man and a homosexual man, and they don’t care. They are brothers. They love each other and they are there to support each other and I think that’s all, frankly, what we need more in our world.

Us: Are you happy with Eddie’s single status? Do you want him to explore relationships with him more in the future?

RG: He is ready for the next thing to happen. So whenever that happens, yes. I think it should happen next season.

Us: What are you most looking forward to for season 9 and how can Eddie kind of grow and develop? If you were to write the show, what would you want to see happen to Eddie?

RG: Well, you can’t get all the characters happy. That’s not going to be a good show. So we gotta figure something with Eddie. But I think the next relationship should be a life -changing that he throws away for a link. Maybe that. I don’t know if I want to lose more cast members.

Us: No, no, definitely nothing. Let’s not go there.

RG: Yes. You know, I’m open for anything. And Tim, you know, he throws curve balls all the time.

Us: What do you hope fans will feel after this finale? Oliver said you are still going to go through the rest of your tissue box. Do you feel the same way? He is still going to pull on those emotional heart strings?

RG: Absolutely.

Us: Perhaps reducing the shot we’ve had so far, the couple episodes during the past?

RG: Yes, we should feel a little warmer after this one. I think I saw some comments about the last episode and it was like, “Oh, the 118 feels like it’s back.” You see all your characters interact with each other. It’s back. ”I think we see more of that.
