Duo faces a long layoff after a terrifying collision


Australian cricketer Cameron Bancroft will miss the entire ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) season after he awkwardly collided with Sydney Thunder teammate Daniel Sams, who was also seriously injured .

Cameron Bancroft is believed to have broken his shoulder and broken nose in the horrific collision with teammate Sams. The incident happened during the 22nd match of the BBL between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder in Perth played on January 3.

Cameron Bancroft dismissed the entire BBL

The unfortunate incident has now ruled Cameron Bancroft out of the entire Big Bash League season. There is also a possibility that the top-order batsman could miss the entire domestic season in Australian cricket.

While Bancroft’s injury is more serious, Daniel Sams was also seriously injured and is expected to be sidelined for at least 12 days. Both Bancroft and Sams suffered concussions after colliding with each other and have been advised to rest.

Both players were rushed to Perth Hospital after colliding with each other and spent the night there. It was an unfortunate end for both players, especially Bancroft, whose injury appears to be more serious.

Trent Copeland updates the health status of both players

Sydney Thunder general manager Trent Copeland provided an update on the health of both players, revealing they were now fine. He thanked the authorities and medical staff for providing adequate support to the players throughout the night.

“Both players in good spirits and well looked after last year. The Perth Scorchers and the medical staff on the ground and the hospital staff were amazing all night. A big thank you from me and the Thunder and both players and their families,” Copeland stated. on Channel 7.

Although both players were fine, Sydney Thunder will create a problem to prepare a balanced team. Bancroft is the team’s leading top-order batsman and is also capable of keeping wickets. On the other hand, Sams offers the all-round option for his team and is a capable left-arm scorer.

How did the incident happen?

The incident happened during the 16th over of the first innings when the Perth Scorchers were batting. Cooper Connolly cut a full ball on his pads aerially to the tap, where Cameron Bancroft collided viciously with Daniel Sams.

Sams had earlier picked up the ball after running back but collided badly with Bancroft, who was coming at the other end. Both players failed to notice the arrival and the catch was eventually dropped. The physio arrived on the ground soon but both players were taken off the field.

Hugh Weibgen and Oliver Davies were named as concussion replacements for both players as Bancroft and Sams were ruled out for further action in the match. It was a disappointing finish for both players.
