HinchClif explained the story behind the joke that created the media.
He said he went to the rally to discuss the free speech and make “Such types of jokes.”

“The meaning of the joke is that people are obviously revealing, in my opinion, obviously a great Pacific garbage,” Hinklif said. “I can’t believe that no one ever says that there is an island plastic, as great as Texas.”

Maher said, “Undoubtedly, it is an insult to Puerto Ricanians, but I was in the same territory. I mean I don’t think I would do this joke, but I certainly did much with which they opposed.”
Maher defended Hinchklif, saying: “My business was always, you know what? Everyone should take the insult in the comedy … You know, and they are never fair.”
Hinchcliffe explained his thinking process that goes to the rally.
