Wynonna judd has ever been open about a troubled relationship With her late mother, Naomi Judd – And one source of disharmony was the truth about Biological Father Wynonna.
In the New Age Docuseries Judd family: franklyWynonna, 60, remembers spending the first three decades of her life believing that her father was Naomi’s first husband, Michael Ciminella. Naomi married Ciminella at the age of 17 after pregnant with Wynonna, but did not tell her daughter that she was not her biological father until Wynonna was 30 years old.
“I knew Michael didn’t like me and Mum didn’t really love him,” Wynonna remembered in Chapter 4 of the Docuseries, who performed for the first time on Sunday, May 11. “Mum told me, ‘I was 16 and I was a maid, I was at home alone and (Biological father of Wynonna) came over and took advantage of me.”
Eventually, however, she told her daughter the real story: she loved the man, Charlie JordanBut their relationship did not work out.
“All these weights were and everyone Kinda freaked out, and went away to join the army,” explained Wynonna. “Look, I understand it, but I was really angry with her. I was so devastating that I thought part of me is missing. The glass is half empty. Learning about my biological dad, I feel more like him than I do my mother in some areas.
Jordan died in 2000 at the age of 56, and Wynonna never met him. When he died, his backpack was filled with posters from the Judds.
“My understanding is that Charlie knew about me and always felt he couldn’t do anything about it,” he remembered. “He probably didn’t feel worthy or whatever, like, ‘Wynonna has this life and I can’t showcase it.’ And for a while, I wasn’t ready to meet him.
He noted that he did not go to Jordan’s funeral because she felt it would be “too much” to his family.
While Wynonna and her mother face Plenty of turmoilIt made it clear earlier in the docuseries that she still has a love for her. (Naomi died by suicide in April 2022 at 76.)
“(People) are looking for what the truth is, what is the real relationship between the Judds,” he explained. “What they don’t understand is that I loved her more than I love myself, but the mother was in love with me and scared me because I represented what she didn’t know and couldn’t control.”
