An altercation ensued and Curley was arrested. Video footage shows an officer hitting Kerley with a thrower, while a bystander begs the officers to “stop” because “he didn’t do anything.”

Curley faces charges of battery on a police officer, corrections officer or firefighter; resisting an employee without violence; and hooliganism. He was released on bail.

However, the Miami-Dade County Jail website later said he was back in custody on charges of domestic violence, strangulation and robbery.

According to arrest affidavits obtained by Fox News Digital, Curley and his wife got into a verbal and then physical altercation in May on his birthday when Curley’s wife contacted an “unknown person on Instagram.”

Curley aggressively approached his wife, and she punched him out of fear, the affidavit said. Curley then “grabbed the victim, pushed her to the ground, wrapped her arms around her neck and prevented her from breathing.”

The affidavit said Curley stole his wife’s cell phone after choking her a second time. Curley was not there when authorities arrived and witnesses refused to cooperate.

A probable cause alert was then entered into the jail system and he was charged after his arrest Thursday night.

Curley won a bronze medal in the 100 meters in Paris this summer, while teammate Noah Lyles won his first Olympic gold. Curley won the 2022 world championships in the competition and silver at the Tokyo Olympics.

He also has the world championships in the 4×400 meter relay in 2019 and the 4×100 meter relay in 2023.

Curley was part of the 4x100m team in Paris, which was disqualified due to a failed relay. Lyles was slated to be part of that team, but came down with COVID earlier in the week, which kept him out of the 200 meters, in which he was heavily favored.
