European leaders have called on US President Donald Trump to discuss proposals for a 30-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine since Monday while visiting Kiev.
The call took place after the leaders of the so -called “coalition” willingly “held a meeting to discuss the promotion of peace talks.
The leaders of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland were personally accepted by the President of Ukraine Loladimir Zelensky and others joined the distance.
The President of the European Commission Ursul von der Leyen said the coalition supported a “complete and unconditional” ceasefire – initially conditioned by Trump – and that the EU is ready to “impose further bite of sanctions” if it was violated.
The presence of Prime Minister -Britain Sir Kire Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and New German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Ukrainian capital, was a symbolic response to More than 20 leaders who joined Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow Friday.
In a joint statement on the eve of the visit, they said that “they would stand in Kiev in solidarity with Ukraine against barbaric and illegal full -scale invasion of Russia.”
Leaders added: “Along with the US, we urge Russia to agree with the full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire to create space for negotiations for fair and lasting peace.”
The 30-hour ceasefire regime is unilaterally called for Putin to Victory Day, should end on Saturday. He noticed a decrease in fighting, but both sides accused others of violations.
The “Coalition of High” was created to strengthen any possible peace agreements with security guarantees, including the possibility of placing troops in Ukraine.
Earlier, Trump confirmed a call for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire after a telephone call with Zelensky.
“If the ceasefire is not respected, the US and its partners will impose further sanctions,” he wrote on social media.
As the meeting took place, the Kremlin’s press -secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was already “used to sanctions” and knew how to minimize their influence, adding: “There is no point in trying to scare us with these sanctions.”
Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, a former Russian president, and now the deputy head of the Russian Security Council, ordered the European allies to “shove these peace plans”.
Other leaders who joined the meeting remotely included Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, Canada Prime Minister Mark Karni, von der Leyen and Mark Ruthte, NATO Secretary General.
Reports of Russian attacks across Ukraine continue, despite Russia’s demands on the temporary ceasefire.
An 85-year-old woman was killed in the northern region of Sami, three more, 19 houses and 10 other buildings were destroyed or damaged, Ukrainian police said.
In Kostyantinka, Eastern Donetsk, one person was injured and two apartments caught fire after Russia’s attacks, Ukrainian public emergency services said.
And in the southern city of Kherson, a 58-year-old resident appealed to medical assistance after the Russian drone attack, which transported explosives, the regional administration said.
