Andreas ‘Katz’ Katzourakis (16-0, 11 kos) detained Roberto ‘The terror of Cayey’ Cruz (11-1, 7 kos) at 2:37 of the seventh round for the Vacant Title of ContinentalaS American Super Welterwight on Friday night at Red Owl Boxing, Houston, Tx. Breyon Gorham defeated Luis Feliciano at the co-main event for a unanimous decision of ten rounds.
In the first minute of the second round, Cruz went out, landing Katzourakis, who returned well the rest of the round. Cruz had an advantage in an action round in the third and fourth round. In the last seconds of the fifth round, Katzourakis hurt with a punch.
In the last seconds of the sixth round, Katzourakis led Cruz to the ropes, which seemed a defeat, but referee John Schorle made him like a slip. In the final minute of the seventh round, Katzourakis drove Cruz to the canvas when Cruz’s corner threw the towel, ending the fight.
At the co-main event, Super Lightweight Breyon ‘Grindtime’ Gorham, 19-0 (15), outside Luis Feliciano, 17-3 (8) for a unanimous decision of ten rounds, marking a defeat.
In the first round, formerly unveiled and causing a couple of losses, Feliciano was overcome. From the second to the seventh round, Feliciano fought, although Gorham did the best.
In the eighth round, Gorham countered Feliciano with his right on his chin, leaving him for a 8 referee count James Green.
Both had moments in the ninth round, with Gorham with an advantage. In the tenth and final round, knowing that he was far behind Feliciano, he had his best round of Gorham.
The scores were 98-91, 97-92 and 99-90.
Super Light Giovanni Marquez, 12-0 (6) beat Esteban ‘Stone Hands’ Munoz, 10-4 (5) for a unanimous decision of 8 laps of capturing the continental title Vacant America.
In the first round, Munoz beat Márquez until, with a remaining minute, Márquez swing Munoz with a right on his chin. Munoz landed a combination on the chin in the third round, swinging Márquez. In the fourth round, Márquez had an advantage. In its corner is the former world champion Raul Marquez.
Márquez had a small cut out of his right eye at the end of the fifth round. In the seventh round, they continued to fight at a uniform level. In the eighth and final round, Márquez had Munoz against the ropes with a punch until the last seconds when Munoz landed the end blow to the right on a chin.
The scores were 78-74, 78-74 and 79-73. Joe Rodriguez was the referee.
Southpaw Oscar Southpaw “El Chato” Pérez, 13-0-2 (7), defeated Cesar ‘Corazon’ Juarez, 31-19 (24), by a unanimous decision of eight rounds.
In the first three rounds, Pérez dominated. In the fourth round, referee James Green assumed a point of Juarez due to low blows. In the fifth round, a left of Pérez on the chin fell Juarez for an 8 count of referee Green. In the eighth and final round, they both let go, with Juarez suffering a bloody nose.
The scores were 80-70, 80-70 and 79-71.
Super Middleweight Nate ‘Brickbuster’ Lugo, 4-0 (4), stopped ‘The Italian Stallion’ Austin Dulworth, 4-4 (1), at 2:47 in the fifth round of a scheduled six-surrounder.
Lugo won all three in an attack full of action in the first three rounds. In the fourth round, at the end of a minute, a lugo right to the chin and down he went to Dulworth for a 8 referee count John Schorle. In the fifth round, with the remaining fifteen seconds, a punch of Lugo forced the referee Schorle to stop.
Elijah “Kaboom” Lugo, 2-0), defeated Chris Porter, 2-3-2 (2) by a unanimous decision of four rounds.
In the first twenty seconds of the first round, Lugo swinging goalkeeper with a right on his chin. In the fourth and final round, it was all Lugo trying, but not getting the stop.
